My cab has two Ikari Warrior style 8way rotary joys that I bought used on eBay about 8yrs ago. The rotary switch contact is a spring and you can bend it a bit to vary how hard or soft the 'click' detent feels. Some versions of MAME the rotary motion is flawless and others I never get it adjusted right. I'm sure newer modern rotary sticks work better. I definitely prefer the tactile feel of a good click for each position. For games like Tron I tend to use the trackball as the spinner rather than the rotary motion of the joystick. |
