Demul screen flicker on full screen

Everytime I go full screen with Demul on some games (ie: Demolish Fist and Extreme Hunting) I get screen flickering like the refresh rate is wrong.

The resolution in the emu matches my desktop and so does the refresh rate. Anyone have a workaround for this?

It's really odd. If I force Demul to run full screen by pressing ALT+ENTER I get screen stuttering on some games but not on most. However, if I run the same 'full screen' setting from Demul there is no stutter. The only issue is that Demul doesn't truly run "full screen" in this mode. The Windows frame can still be seen around the very edges of the monitor. I'd rather have the ALT+Enter type of look (true full screen) but without the V-sync issue.

Any ideas ??? Any one else experience this?

Thanks for posting the tutorial in the other threads.

I'm not having that issue, but when I did my autohotkey scripts, the timing of when ALT+ENTER was a factor.
If it went fullscreen too early or too late, I had those kind of issues. 
Particularly if it went fullscreen during the transition from the NAOMI/Atomiswave screen to the game.
That's why I stuck with the messy method instead of using a timer.  You might try making the sleep time longer.

Demul .5.7 added the option to launch fullscreen BTW, but doesn't work well if you don't have Directx11.
The legacy drivers are glitchy and don't perform as well as v.5.6 with Directx9 (XP is limited to Directx9)

Thanks for your reply. Interesting comments and excellent suggestion. Glad you liked my posted Demul tutorial.

I'll have to experiment with when I go full screen and adjust the sleep timing of my AHK script. I think it does currently jump to full screen during the logo (Naomi, Atomiswave) startup and transition. That might be the problem.

I'm running Windows 7 - 64 bit so I should have Direct X 11 access. Might have to check to see which version of Direct X I'm running as well.

I updated to the new gpuDX11.dll and everything got messed up. Reverted back to the old .dll

My OS is running Direct X 11 but my video card is Direct X 9 compliant. Should I still try and use the DX 11 driver?

Did you download the new version of Demul or just the driver?
The driver only works with v.5.7

I remember seeing some posts about the gpuDX11.dll that can be downloaded separately not working with certain cards.
You might try that one and the one that's packaged with v.5.7 to see if one works better than the other.
On the NaomiGD and Naomi2 games, it helps to disable most of what it allows you to disable under video options.

Check that the drivers for the video card is up to date.
I'm using an old Nvidia 8600GT that is a directx 9 card, but my OS (Vista) updated to Directx11 and the Demul plugin started working.


On the timing of when it goes fullscreen, I had problems when it did it during the transition (when the screen goes black after the Atomiswave logo).
Most of my scripts go fullscreen during the screen with the atomiswave logo.

Now that I think of it, there is some screen flickering in Demolish Fist during the attract mode, but the game is fine.
I've played it all the way through.  ;D
Probably just a bug in the emulator.
