Interesting MAME FRAME on ebay

<< < (3/3)

Gray_Area:
MAMEframe is just so weird, that it takes a few for me to even venture near the techno-geek connotation there might be of it.

As for the metal deal....um, girl or gay guy, I'm sure they would go for a furniture-like box than that industrial-looking thing.

Howard_Casto:
It's a good concept... make a mame cab smaller (cause those suckers are huge in a small room) but it's a bit too minimalist.

Note the standard viewlix cab... which is the arcade version of a hdtv cab

Everything is reinforced and enclosed.  Also note that the angle on the back of the cab is almost identical, yet they used that space to build a box to house the pcb... keeping things neat and tidy.  Also note the marquee doesn't stick out (that casts a shadow), and the cp is rounded, so you won't kill a person. ;)  Finally, and most importantly, note that it's a sit-down model.  Short of having heavy weights in the bottom or bolting it to the wall, a stand up cab that thin is just going to tip over eventually.

Actually, for a stand up that's a much better idea.  Just make a VESA mount that can hold a control panel below a flat screen and possibly a marquee above.
