Mounting trackball (PS2 paradisearcadeshop trackball)

I only plan on playing with the trackball occasionally. My cp is not deep for bowling and golf. If I ever do want to have a nice trackball, I'll make a second cab.

Route the underside down to only 1/8" thick? I would think the wood would give out after a reasonable amount of pressure.

You have a very sharp looking cab right now.  Given your wood panel without artwork, I think a visible mounting plate is your only option with that ball, which may not look so great.  For what it is worth, I vote you pick up a Utrak, drill a 3" hole and call it a day.
