Cocktail Setting Not Working in Mame32

ANyone know why cocktail mode doesnt work?  I set the dip to cocktail, NFG.  It used to work on games like Ms. Pacman... now zilch.

Im using mame32, any help is appreciated

Also; is there a way to default to cockatil mode?
