Wiring troubles

Tonight I wired up my control panel, I was very excited to test the inputs before loading a game. In the game I found an issue with my UP button, though. The input goes through, but only one quick up motion and then the input ceases even if I hold up. For Mario to go up a ladder in DK you have to hit up 4-5 times.

I thought it was a loose connection, but after trying a few adjustments I got a new wire and even needle nosed the wire directly to the prong...still the same issue.

Anybody know what might be causing this??

what encoder are you using? Try another input to see if it that and if its still doing the samething try a different switch

It is being run through MAME, but the problem occurs in other programs too (game selection in Hyperspin).  I'm using an ipac, I rewired that input a couple of times to make sure I installed it correctly.  Good ideas about the switch, I will try that tonight to see if perhaps that is it.

I've never had any problems with my IPacs but I would check the switch on the up and then if the problem persists I would give a visual glance over for the solders on the bottom of the IPac board.  Make sure it didn't get damaged possibly.
