This website never fails to amaze me and highlights just how talented you guys are. Outstanding  work :applaud: Chris I wish I had your ability, your project is outstanding. I have a few questions:

1. How much did your project cost you?
2. How well does virtual pinball play? I have never had a go and was currious as to whether it is any good or close to the real thing.

Many thanks

Mark

Installed a mirror polished lockbar, backbox hinges and siderails today.
Love the look and feel, I think I will upgrade my real pinball machines too  :dizzy:

This cabinet is awesome.  I can't wait to get my up and running, even if it will never compare.

Are you using a KeyWiz?  LEDWiz?

hey guys,

what else could you do with your pincab...

how about playing xbox360 RAIDEN IV vertically rotated!

1080p arcade, awesome viewing angle for shmups, I love it!

I am planning to install mame, too... playing frogger in lifesize ^^ ;)

cheers
chris

I would think that you would have less time to react to things coming in from the top of the screen because it is a little harder to see up there.
Do you actually keep an Xbox 360 in the cabinet or did you just hook it up as a one time thing?  If you keep it, doesn't that create heat problems?
Are you running any MAME games on the cabinet using an Xbox 360 controller?

here you can see the industry relay.

I don't know much about relays, does anyone know if this item (3RT1016-1AB01 CONTACTOR) happens to be a suitable replacement for the relays linked earlier?  The ones in this cabinet sell from $60-138 each.  The one I linked is only $25.

I connected the Xbox simply external. Tested also mame (frogger in lifesize is awesome :D ). You can use the xbox controller with an usb-pc-adapter.

search for second hand siemens sirius contactors (24vdc) at ebay. price range should be 5-15 bucks each.

Thanks.  I just wanted to make sure that there wouldn't be a huge difference between the 12v one and the 24v one.

What software do you use to drive those DMD's?

They look great. If/when I do a vpin, I'd love to use one of those.

Hi Chris, I'm building a VP in a William's Widebody cabinet with a 46" playfield monitor. I can't decide whether to put it flush under the glass or if I should put it in a more classic pinball angle a bit down from the glass. Since you seems to have built cabinets with both of the solutions, which do you prefer? Thank you!

Hi,

hard to say, in the end it's a matter of taste. with sunken playfield you have the possibility to add lights on the backboard and/or sides. it also gives a little "fake" 3d effect.

on the other side, vp tables get better and better. lightning, effects, "sunken" playfield optics are really nice today.

cheers
Chris

Thanks for your input! I think I'll put the playfield flush to the glass. What distance do you recommend between glass and TV? 😊
