DaOld Man:
Is the switch rated for 120 VAC?
Is the lamp for the switch rated for 120 volts?

oh and perhaps a moderator could move this to the appropriate forum

Ah, Well, I'm not an ee or an electrician, so I tend to stay away from mains level voltages. Yeah, those circuits I pointed to might not be all that great for 120vac.

drventure:
You might be able to use a smartstrip in conjunction with one of the devices plugged into the master port, and have that device be turned on by the button (the way many people wire up the power button on the PC in their cabinet to an external button, and have the PC coming on power up the smartstrip.

The switch you're looking for will be either 120 volt, 15 amp switch.  A few companies make them if you look around.  Or you could get a small 120 volt light and wire it inline with the switch to illuminate.

If you follow these, it should give you an idea on how to wire it all up.  12VDC switch with an led in it switching a 120VAC source.
