The thing that annoy me most about widescreen displays is that for some stupid reason the industry decided not to make them wide enough to actually show any of the common widescreen film formats. Head back in time to when they first started making widescreen displays. Television was 1.3333:1 (4:3) and common movie sizes were 1.85:1 and 2.39:1. So what size did they decide to make the displays? 1.77:1 (16:9), wide enough to ruin all 4:3 content but not actually wide enough to properly display the widescreen movies which were the average consumers only source of widescreen content.

Now they make all the TV shows 16:9, which has even further destroyed the chance of them actually making sets wide enough to properly view a widescreen movie.

The adoption of 16:9 on most laptops is particularly disturbing as it makes them wider and less functional to add a feature used largely by children (watching widescreen DVD on the laptop which, as I said above still isn't wide enough for that).

It's worth the extra $45 to have it delivered to your door and not have to deal with the people on Craig's List.

^^ this is one of those rare times where i would have to agree with pinballjim here. I could price haggle/lowball my way into two monitors for the price of a "refurb" from newegg. I tend have major trust issues with the term "refurbished". Vendors such as newegg and compusa/tigerdirect have a different idea of what refurbished means. Most of the time their return and warranty terms simply aren't good enough to justify the price premium for what amounts to second hand/used items.

Got 5 19 inch on kijiji for 25$ each.  You just have to have patience and keep looking.  Alot of companies upgrade to larger screens and you can get the refurbs (checked if they work) for a deal.
