I'm not a fan of punching ~2" diameter holes in my walls is all. If you have to patch the holes later... well there goes some of your cost savings. Filling a nail/screw hole is much easier and cheaper than patching a 2" hole. I'm not willing to commit to holes of that size when the furnature gets rearranged as much as it does. You say the purpose is for aesthetics, I understand that, but if you're taking that stance you could have spent another couple bucks to get a white outlet and faceplate to match your through hole cover.
PS - After all that work, I can still see your bulge... Don't be so sensitive.

You could always do what I did for my wall mount.
Buy a nice speaker/component stand. The things that go to the left and right of tv stands with glass shelves for holding your equipment. I got one at target years ago for like $50.
I have my tv wall mounted about 2 inches above the stand. Cables run behind it but you can't see anything. I can now rotate my tv with one hand back and forth with zero worry about it falling.

Did I mention the part where if your house decides to burn down, the insurance company might use the power cord in the wall as an excuse not to pay you?
shmokes:
Yes

People have fireplaces in Texas? wtf?
PBJ, whats wrong with having a tv above a fireplace? Do you keep that space reserved for your family portrait?
