Several years ago I got some NES and SNES (authentic) converted USB controllers from here: http://retrousb.com/ Looks like he might be outta stock of some of them right now. But I would recommend buying from him. They are excellent! |

I bought a Buffalo brand USB pad off eBay. It's superior to the generic pads (unfortunately, bought one of those too) and prob as close as u can get to the original controller. It's a little lighter, but otherwise a decent pad. I'd reccomend it if u can't find a good OEM pad. |

I have the retrousb kits in one sega genesis controller and two nes controllers. I found that the pic chip on them tend to get very hot and at times, the pc will stop recognizing them for a while. Happens in multiple PCs i try them on and during extended gameplay (ie trying to beat a game) I did put a small heatsink pad on my genesis kit and i haven't had any issues since. I need to find some small silicone heat pads for my two nes controllers. |

I have a couple of these and they work pretty well: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0034ZOAO0 They aren't oem snes quality, but close, and for the price it's not a big risk to try them. |
