His skills are way beyond mine.

I think this is a good case of a time when someone probably already has the woodworking skills to make a good, solid cabinet, but they don't have the knowledge or experience with the technology to install the correct controls.

I'm the exact opposite.  I can set up the software to run in exact native resolutions and refresh rates, and make sure that I use the most accurate emulators.  I can minimize input delay, and calibrate the monitor to display the most accurate colors.  I know which joystick encoders to buy, and the best brand of joystick and buttons for each particular game.

But I'm useless with a circular saw.   :dunno

So the guy wants to play MK and SF the with the correct button alignments.  Why again is that a Bad thing???

Theres a lot of buttons on there.  So Fricken what.   They do exactly what the guy wants.

Trying to play MK with a SF layout is a pain, when you have gotten used to the MK layout.
And almost nothing else can use an MK layout effectively.

So the real gripe is the choice of sticks.  So what.  The guy chose a poor stick.  My god, the crime of the century ehh?  Maybe he had them given to him for free.  Maybe he is ill informed at which sticks are best for the games he wants to play.  Then again, even some of the experts cant agree on that ehh?

The thread is filled with the typical post bullies, as usual.
Its their way, or the chain saw... and you have to get the design approved by them first... as theres no 2nd chances in their game.

Jesus Xiaou, take it down a notch. You have utterly no faculty for persuasion. All you do is entrench your opponents in their ideas. What little effect what I said here might have had on anyone, and I emphasize "little" has most likely been completely obliterated by that frothing of the mouth of yours.

Nazis? Really? For ---fudgesicle---'s sake Xiaou, Nazi's systematically murdered millions of people. Exactly what parallel are you trying to draw?

Plus you totally miss the only vulnerability in your opponent's position anyway. There's no defending that control panel for its own sake. That button layout is awful. The Street Fighter buttons are like ten feet from the sticks, so don't pretend that he's somehow acheived authenticity for both fighters. And, of course, anyone using those sticks can't be overly concerrned with authenticity to begin with.

The point is, the mistakes, and don't kid yourself, they ARE mistakes, are understandable. Even the builder surely realizes that now that it's built and he's used it. But he clearly put a lot of care and heart into the machine's construction and the teardown it was getting was overly harsh and unwarranted.

If anything, though, you're little (read: big) diatribe will only encourage more of it, if for no other reason than to provoke more crazy-town out of you. Stop it.

As always, the patron saint of tainted meth on CrapMAME shows up to call everybody else a Nazi.
