I second Ark. I have an old PC psu, added a switch, that runs all my outside lights( 4 pairs of cc lights and the coin door). Very easy, but lots of extra wires. MM out :afro: |

Thanks all! I'm looking forward to completing the cab. Here's where I am so far. H1N1 got into our house so I've been away from building for the most part. So, I got the top painted.... I don't know if I'm going to paint the bottom. Metalcast rules. AJ |

Maybe I'm just tired and didn't read this through properly, but what is the purpose of a second PSU? Avoid interference or is the current one not powerful enough? I'm assuming that we are talking about a MAME cabinet, right? |

Yes. Mame cabinet. I don't want the PC to be burdened down with all the wires and external stuff hanging off it. I want the cab to be completely independent of the PC in terms of power so that I can swap PCs in as I get more experience with frontends, get faster hardware (for things such as PS2 and other high-utilization emus). Since I get PCs for free, I can just swap them in and out. I thought of using just a molex card in a PCI slot, but that didn't meet my purposes. Plus, I want the inside of the cab to look cool, too. The more wires, edge blocks, cable routing, etc...the better. :afro: AJ --- Quote from: matsadona on February 22, 2012, 07:26:09 am ---Maybe I'm just tired and didn't read this through properly, but what is the purpose of a second PSU? Here's what I did. And they easily disconnect to swap the PC out. D |
