The Death and Return of Superman - A Must Watch!

Very funny… I remember this in high school and how everyone bought this thinking the death of Super Man would be worth money some day. No one realized the only reason comics were worth something up until that point was because they were not collected in 60’s, 70’s most of 80’s; making those comics rare. After this I realized new comics would never be worth anything ever again and have not bought a comic since.

What . . . you only buy things that you plan to collect?

CheffoJeffo:
I dunno ... I bought a bunch of comics around the same time and ended up funding a fair number of mortgage payments with the proceeds. The important part is not buying what everybody else wants to buy or, especially, what the media is touting.

Having said that, I wouldn't do the same thing again.

Mikezilla:
Even as a kid I remember thinking "there is no way DC is really going to kill one of their flagship characters". It was just a story arc, and they ressurected him not even a year later. The 90's were a great time for comics, but towards the end, they ---fouled up beyond all recognition--- up all their main characters, and rebooted them, so it made the comics from the 90s on damn near worthless. It sucks because there were some good stories, and the art is awesome.

Take spiderman for example, they did that whole clone nonsense and made him go crazy, and they had to retcon the entire thing by spidey making a deal with the devil to esentially restart the whole series. That, and they wanted peter to be single again... Stupid Joe Quesada.

Then, they had Bane break Batmans back, and a new Batman come into town. That whole thing was a debacle in itself.

And of course, killing superman, ripping the adamantium out of wolverine, and having colossus defect to Magneto, the whole onslaught story arc etc...

They just just recently killed Captain America (steve rogers) off too. It sucks.

Bootay:
Steve Rogers is actually alive again. I won't give away any spoilers but the way they got around him dying was....very lame. The recently resurrected Bucky took over for him as Captain America for the year he was "dead". (Bucky's resurrection was also dumb)

This year they killed off the Human Torch.

Super hero comics aren't very good these days story wise, aside from the Civil War story arc. That was pretty cool, but everything else has been stupid on both Marvel and DCs sides.

I hated the way they gave Wolverine a past now too. I mean it would have been alright if it weren't so dumb. Again...I won't give spoilers.
