Trying to create monitor presets for KT-2914 (Betson-Kortek) MultiSync

8BitMonk:

Thanks Calamity. I'm a bit puzzled on the common factor as well. I can see some commonality within groups but not enough to describe an exact rule. I also wonder if the groups are similar on other trisyncs like the WG 9400/9800. I was recently able to purchase a 9400 and will test it when I have some more time.

Luckily for those just trying to get their Betson to work well with groovymame it isn't absolutely necessary to know the 'why' of each group as long as they know what the basic groups are and a range of games that fall in them.

If anyone comes across a game that doesn't fall into one of these groups please post back. I tested a lot of games and think most (if not all) are covered by what I've mapped out but since I didn't test every single game it's possible there are some oddballs that aren't within a group.

I'm also working on a couple custom modelines specifically for the 448x224 Cave games that are very narrow/vertical and looked a little stretched to me that I'll post when complete.

So, far I have been very pleased with the settings that 8BitMonk has contributed. My Betson is dialed in for the most part and my games look amazing!! Best I have seen them in since owning my Betson. Easily 6-7 years.

8BitMonk:

Good to hear it AMD. Are you using my old presets or the D9400/9800 presets and adjusting each groups geometry?

AMDman13:

Hey 8bit sorry it's taken a bit to get back to you. Yes, I am still using your old presets and I had used Arcade OSD to tweak the monitor to the games you had listed. I briefly tried your newest ones and the results were not as good, but that's because I've currently got it working and didn't feel up to the challenge of re-working the Betson. In your post you stated that
--- Quote ---groovymame came out that fixed mistakenly selecting the wrong presets
--- End quote ---
Which version had this error? I am running GM 155. Thanks

Version 0.155 is where this problem got fixed (Switchres 0.015c):

--- Quote ---- Finally proper support for "super" resolutions (Windows & Linux):
    - Fix for modeline scoring to properly select the best available "super" resolution.
    - Fix for blank UI due to wrong scaling when in rotated mode and using "super" resolutions.
    - Fix for vector games that didn't show when using "super" resolutions.
--- End quote ---

You'll need to follow 8BitMonk's instructions regarding Betson's OSD adjustments in order to take advantage of his presets.
