It wasn't "beefy" at all. It's a glorified slideshow of still images and video sequences. CD-ROMs were just SLOW at transferring data back then.

--- Code: ---MINIMUM PC REQUIREMENTS
Windows 3.1/95
386 33MHz Processor
4MB RAM (8MB for Windows 95)
4MB Hard Disk Space
2X CD-ROM Drive

This is in 1993.

33mhz! Meanwhile, people are impressed that an iphone can play it. (An old iphone 3 has 18x the CPU processing power that that old 386 had!)

I was curious about how you'd compare the speed between them.

Wikipedia lists the MIPS for the ARM6 (in the regular iPhone) as being 740 MIPS
And the Intel 386DX at 11.4 MIPS at 33 MHz.

So maybe more like 65x the processing power.

comparing a reduced instruction set CPU to a standard CPU is like comparing apples to cases apples. they are both apples, but one you have to carry a few at a time and the other comes in a box that you can carry maybe a few cases (depending on your strength) at a time. you ultimately transport all the apples but in way less time with the cases.

often why in those computer mags like maximum PC they have real world tests when they do comparisons and speed tests, and not just the crap cpu manufacturers spray out to make their cpu seem faster than the other guy.

No doubt. Remember all the crap Apple used to say about how their Motorola chips beat Intel?
