Myst is on Iphone!

But then, if they did what you suggested and changed the game, they'll be a different set of peopl who'd complain that they should have left it alone. Can't please everyone I suppose. So why make a new game when you could port an existing one for a new generation? It's definitely less costly and time consuming for them. And they'll still please a least some people who want to play it again without the hassles of digging out 15 year old hardware.
And it's not like this is unusual. How many times has Nintendo rereleased Super Mario Bros. for different hardware?

It wasn't "beefy" at all. It's a glorified slideshow of still images and video sequences. CD-ROMs were just SLOW at transferring data back then.

The few things they did do in house were just terrible and didn't contain any original footage. My point was the only person that can do a proper DL sequel is don bluth, and he just isn't interested. I'm glad you met him, good for you, but I can't call someone a nice guy when they've halted tiny fan projects based on obscure games that weren't hurting anybody. Someone was working on a game that Starred Kimberly from space ace... it was all original animation and was going to be released for free. Don Bluth studios threatened to sue the guy. Someone else wanted to start a game based upon the single concept sketch DB released of a sailor and a mermaid. The project was killed before it ever got off the ground.

Don Bluth did not threaten to sue over the Space Ace: Kimberly's Quest project. The project was going fine until the creator submitted his work to Bluth's company for their blessing. He received a personal letter from Goldman saying that they absolutely loved the project, but had to politely ask him to not continue as they were unclear about what license issues it would run into. No Demand, no threats, just no blessing. (The letter didn't specify much as to why, but I am assuming that if Bluth co knowingly gave the nod to this project, they would be the ones liable due to their total license agreement with digital leisure. The agreement would state that Bluth would not be able to grant authorization of the Space Ace works to anyone other than Digital Leisure.)
The only person I know Don Bluth & co to threaten to sue it that crazy idiot who was making and selling Secret of Nymh pRon. I guess you could say that was one "fan project" that was halted. :puke
Oh, interesting thing, Don is still currently working in the video game world. He just recently did the animation for an updated Tapper game. (unfortunatly for iOS only... :'( )
