- High score wins.

- No savestates, savestate practices, etc. during the round.

- MAME INP recordings are encouraged but optional.

- A screenshot is required to enter a score (press F12 to save screenshot showing your final score) or take a photo of the game screen.

- If you're a MARP competitor on this title, keep in mind this is just a friendly competition among forum members, so maybe you shouldn't enter. However, if you're a forum member and this is a game you're good at and nobody knows about it, this is your time to shine!

- Even if you don't have a competitive score or if you don't *think* that you have a competitive score, please post it anyway to keep the thread fun & to give everybody a good sense of score ranges.

- Please make sure your scores are from games that take place during the competition period (no posting your best score from last year, etc.).

- Use of autofire or other non-standard hacks within MAME or your PC's OS are not allowed.  No program or other person or entity of any sort may manipulate your controls during your game.  Coaching & back-seat driving is fine as long as the party doesn't directly influence the game or controls.

- If you can beat any of the high scores from the previous competitions, you can submit your score to the BYOAC High Game Scoreboard.

Best of luck!

A buddy of mine turned me on to this recently
Love it, but man it gets hard fast (at least for me)
I'll post a sad score soon

Good choice! I agree, it does get hard pretty quick. You really gotta learn the patterns of all the obstacles. Also, you got the ending date wrong. January 30th is Monday, so you either want Sunday Jan 29th, or Monday Jan 30th :)

My first attempt, 33438. I do have one other question. I assume "easy" is the easiest setting? I think it is....looks like some of the older versions of MAME had them listed as easy, medium, hard, and hardest, whereas the more recent versions have them as 1-4 (with 1 being "beginner" and 4 "advanced"). I played using Wolfmame 106 set to 1 (beginner).

CrazyKongFan, thanks for pointing that out.   It actually is 1 (beginner).  I duplicated 'easy' from the 'Difficulty of EXTRA' line which is easy.   Updating it now.

Sorry everyone!

The best way to record a game is to use the built-in INP. It basically records all your keystrokes, and then you play the game back using your input file. When zipped up, they're very small, but you can't use NVRAM or any kind of save state. That's what TG and MARP use for their MAME scores. The only bad part is, you have to have whatever version the INP file was done on to play it back (with a few exceptions...sometimes close versions might work, if nothing significant changed).
Anyway, I have another score. Don't have the screenshot handy, but it was 40K and some change. I did it while the site was blacked out, so I couldn't post it. Next time I have my laptop booted up and online, I'll upload the pic.

I love this game. Haven't played it in a while. In current/recent MAME you can also select 'record to AVI'. Then use an app to compress the file.

Yeah, the fourth board always gives me trouble. I think I've been past it. Can get all the way to on one dude, then lose 'em all on it. Like just now.

25,682 after a few games. Made it to the 4th level, finally.

I never gave this game much attention--probably played it no more than twice before.

But I l :-* ve it!!!

Well, draginit beat my score, but I'll post the 40K one I mentioned earlier anyway :) It was actually 42,050. Haven't quite figured out the timing at the top for scene 5. I can get almost to the end, and always die up there.

if you got the first half of 5 down, the second half is actually easier..  ok so you know to run thru to the 4th ladder on 2nd platform just in time to let the first cart go by, then wait at the next ladder and let the next cart go..the next part was tricking me often till i just took a sec to wait..
so from the fifth ladder after the 2nd cart just passed you run to the 7th ladder(last one on 3rd platform) and let the third cart pass at which point you stay on ladder until horse below passes. then dart up to next ladder and wait for a cart to pass above, then jump on ladder til a cart passes below, then run to next ladder. which is tricky becasu one will pass below and immediatly pass above. get that timing and run to the ladder on the edge. after one cart passes above and the other below run around the ball and grab the first ladder..let the cart pass and its a sprint to the finish from there...those whoops can be tricky with an 8-way joy cuz i was constantly fighting mr. do's urge to moonwalk right in front of oncoming carts..

wow that was harder to explain then i thought it to be and prolly just got anyone confused..anyways thats how im doing it..maybe it will help anyone looking for a higher score..i have .mng videos of each level but i cant even view them on my computer lol....

i now know the most succesful pattern for level 6 but with my 8 way joy i cant seem to complete the rotating platforms without my guy stopping abruptly or moonwalking off the edge..

i think its time i order a nice 4way...anyone suggest a good one?

Right after I posted, I managed to clear scene 5, but I didn't beat my high, so I hadn't posted it ;) Scene 6 really looks like it's gonna be fun ::)

That was the way of games then. To have seven or eight different boards was remarkable. A few times, the diamond's come up early on, and there's not way I can see to maintain it, because you have to use a ladder somewhere before getting there. That's kind of discouraging.

Where'd everybody go?  I played this some more last night, and got to the fifth board, but those ponies just tripped me out. I think I'm on the uptake, though.

Agreed,  it did get quiet fast....I'm just waiting for the surprise attack on the last day heh heh..

Hey don't let them ponies intimidate you. Once you get them conquered the top half is a snap.....then there's the revolving platforms of death. Lemme know if you need help on 6, I got that patterned licked!

I've been playing a lot but not making any progress, though I finally have a pattern for the 5th screen my high score hasn't changed much and the 6th screen is just as difficult.
