Quick question about high scores
gurnie:
If I have an older set of roms (like, really, old .83) and I update with the a new set of roms (like the most recent) will i delete my high scores? i just want to write over my old files if I can, i don't want different versions of mame roms on my drive since my drive is only 80 gigs (too lazy to add a 2nd drive at the moment) I should make my husband do it :P
is there a good reason to keep two sets of roms on the computer, i mean like .83 roms are going to be different than the new roms set
Thenasty:
updating your ROMS will require you to UPDATE MAME too (specially ver.83).
Updating your .83 ROMS to recent ones using an old .83 MAME will make lots of games not to work.
If you want to update to recent, you need the recent MAME and use CLRMAME for your ROM management.
gurnie:
well i already have the most recent version of mame running the old .83 roms, (laugh) surprisingly a lot of them work! but its time to match the new roms with the new mame.
what does CLRmame do? take out all the mahjong games? :applaud:
so, again will rewriting the old roms with new roms eliminate my high scores? right now I have MAME saving state when i exit the game.
Thenasty:
official MAME build suppport save states (on some games) and got rid off the Hi-Score support. You need to get a un-official build or compile one yourself adding hi-score support.
Cynicaster:
I use MamePlus, which I started using specifically because it keeps high scores.
