I think dates are coming out this week.

Maybe if it goes over big in the US, but I don't think it will.  They would be billing it as a "world tour"  I hate to say it but they've already gone to the nostalgia tour paradigm, but I don't think it will be big on the scale of ACDC or Maiden/Somewhere in Time.  I'm not sure they have that cross generational appeal like some of those groups seem to maintain.  Dave will add mass appeal although I really liked and still like the Sammy era.

Even if they promote the new album i'll be happy with the tour, it's 50/50 for me new material or hitz.

Opposite here.  I'm gritting my teeth a little at the thought of the new record after VH III and Balance.  of course I'll buy it but time and extreme wealth/comfort/shoe licensing deals have not been kind to Eddie's keen writing and playing edge.  The tour now, face it, these guys can blow.  Dave's got 95% of the pipes he had, amazingly, and Eddie's got 95% of the chops.  He's really got a 100% of the chops, but i'm holding back 5% because his knees don't bend anymore.  Compare that to Robert Plant at 40% remaining pipes, although it's unfair because he's a good bit older.

Gaga, Madonna et al are different artists who deserve a different discussion.  Somewhere else.

I think I will be going to this concert if it comes here. I was a HUGE VH fan back in high school. I liked some Sammy. 5150 was a pretty good album I thought. I have always wanted to see them with Diamond Dave though. Cannot wait.

I've never seen them live, with or without Dave.  I will definitely go if they come to Pittsburgh.   I just bought my Joe Bonamassa tickets today!   I saw him last year, it was an incredible show!

yotsuya:
I saw them a few years ago when they ditched Michael Anthony and toured with Eddie's son Wolfgang.

Nice.  I saw Tool back in 2002...  so awesome.

We touched on this before, but I had to put in my two cents again.... Tool is almost as overrated as U2.  :P

--- End quote ---

Pffft, please.  No one is near as overrated as U2.

Lady Gaga, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Amy Whinehouse...

--- End quote ---

Whoa whoa WHOA. Michael Jackson is NOT overrated! Lady Gaga is Madonna, so that doesnt count. With you on Amy Whinehouse though...

+1 on Mr. Jackson.

Doh't misunderstand, he quickly degraded into insanity and obscurity BUT in the 80's he pretty much invented pop, the "dancing concert" and the music video.  And most of his earlier stuff was pretty awesome as well.  Of course the bad side to that is that he invented the "dancing concert" and pop music... meaning he's indirectly responsible for all the backstreet kids on the block boys and the britney christinia swifts.
