Williams fire! flipper died
jrivelli:
I was playing mid game and the right flipper on my Williams Fire! pinball just kinda stopped. There was no pop, no sudden stopping of the flipper. What it did was just get ultra weak, almost as if something was pulling against it.
I looked under the playfield and nothing had come loose by chance. I squeezed the coil and its really hard still. Not burnt looking either.
Any thoughts on this exactly? Normally the coil looks or feels bad and some noise is made things like this break, for me at least in the past. So, Im not too sure what it could be. Let me know if more info is needed, be happy to provide.
jrivelli:
Thanks for that info!
I messed around some more and realized the housing for the coil was loose. I tightened up the screw and added one that was missing.
I put the game back down, hit the flipper a few times and it finally came around and has been working since. Seems a bit odd, but hey I'll take it!
jrivelli:
gah! I sold this pin in lieu of getting something different. I dropped it off at the guy's place and of course he calls and says the right flipper is not working. We did play a few games when I dropped it off too. Lame....

And next time, "no warranty express or implied . . . . ." >:D"

huh ?
as a rule a >normal-filpper-kit< less coil
the cap is there to stop noise >eos<
putting the screw back in is a grand idea :)
btw did u chk to make sure the >sleve< is not damaged ?
as that is very comman when the srcew come's lose/fall's out
back stop is a common problem
make sure u replace the >thrust washer<with a new 1
as the old 1 will have enough ware to make your back stop fail
