Star Trek: Science Fiction like Battle Star Galactica and stuff for guys with ---Deutsche Frankfurters---
Star Wars: Fairytales, like Snow White, LOTR, Sound of Music, Labyrinth: stuff for chicks, oh and please put Chewbacca next to Elmo and Big Bird in Sesame Street.

There is your problem right there.
Both Star Wars fans and Star Trek fans refuse to accept reality and deny any flaws in their beloved series.
Star Wars fans insist that their franchise is a science fiction franchise when it absolutley isn't. They also refuse to accept the fact that Luke Skywalker is probably the most sissified hero in the history of heros and somehow have convinced themselves that random extra #4, aka Boba Fett, is badass.
Star Trek fans see action and adventure where none exists. They also refuse to accept the fact that a world where poverty, illness and war have been eliminated will probably never happen.
Now if you are asking which one is BETTER then we only need to look at the numbers.
Star Wars:
Good Films: 3
Awful Films: 3
Franchise embarrasments: The holdiday special, all the ewok films, all the cartoons ect...
Good Tv shows: 0
Awful Tv shows: 0
Promenant hot chicks: 2
Star Trek:
Good Films: 8
Awful Films: 3 (yes, that last reboot was terrible for no other reason than it was too much like star wars)
Franchise embarassments: The latest film.
Good Tv Shows: 6
Awful Tv Shows: 0
Promenant hot chicks: 14
Yeah Star Wars fans don't really have a leg to stand on.
That being said, twilight is awful. I would gladly put on a bathrobe and play with a mag-light if it meant I could wipe that franchise off the face of the planet.

Heh. All credibility lost.
Star Wars was a Space Opera. Nothing wrong with that genre, it was entertaining. Wish they'd made more than 3 movies though.

No all credibility isn't lost. A Star Trek film can't be good if it's too much like Star Wars just like a Star Wars film can't be good if it's too much like Star Trek. That wasn't a knock on the franchise at all.
There isn't anything wrong with Star Wars, it's just Star Trek is superior. You are comparing a mere trilogy to 45 years of continuously good films and television. I have no problems admitting that The first three Star Wars films are fantastic... but that's all there is.
It's kind of like comparing Dr. Who to Babylon 5. Both are great franchises in their own right but one has been on continuously since 1963 and the other had 4 or 5 seasons and a made for tv movie or two.
saint:
You misunderstand me, I loved both franchises. I was poking at you for dogging the Star Trek reboot. I thought it was really well done. :)
