Here is the concept for my layout - the bezel from the upright PacMan, with only the screenshots & marquees showing.





I still have a fair bit of room, right now it's at both the top & bottom, on the bottom I'd like to show some pictograms that indicate using the joystick and one of the buttons to select different games.

Any ideas?

Note that the large yellow circle are so that a border will show around red (likely) push-buttons.

Here are the panels with the background changed from grey, to black.

I prefer the black background pics over the grey... but I would ditch the yellow bit round the buttons personally. Mainly due to the fact that if you don't get the buttons absolutely perfect then the ring will look off centre around the buttons. That's the sort of thing that would bug me.

You could get round this by making sure that the buttons have a little play in them so you can centre them before tightening the securing nut. However be warned that Sanwa buttons don't give as much play in this area than the Happs style buttons do. And if you are gonna use snap-in type buttons then you would need to get the hole position perfect first time.

Good advice!

Luckily my brother-in-law works at a sign printing shop, so I can cut the holes in the metal control panel, and print test versions of the overlay, match the holes, and have any needed updates printed by the next day.
