JAMMA harness: identify these wires
(1/2) > >>

Hello everyone!

I've been wiring a cabinet with a new JAMMA harness.  The cabinet was formerly a SNK Ikari Warriors machine, with some really horrible custom adapter board connecting the SNK PCB to the controls.

For the most part I've been able to figure out where everything goes, and the JAMMA wiring loom manufacturer clustered like-wires together with zip ties.

However the two remaining wire bundles clusters I am a little lost on.
Can anyone give me advice where these go, or even speculations?   ???

bundle "B" here has connections to

* GND (very long)
* GND with one additional terminal
* TEST (orange)
* SERVICE (red)
* COIN (green, very long)
there's only one COIN connector for two coin slots.

bundle "C" here has connections to

* speaker + and - (white, long, no terminals)
* COIN (green, very long) - another one!
* P2 BUTTON 4? this is pin c (grey).  If I connect this one somewhere, will P2 no longer be able to use BUTTON 4?
* GND (black, with a plug, zip-tied to another plug with 2 terminals)
Where do these pieces go?

What is with the extra connections, like the GND plugs?

Why are there two different connections for COIN, which connect to the same part of the JAMMA connector?

Any input would be appreciated!

Trace the wires back the jamma connector, should all be self-explanatory. Take a look at this pinout:

- Speaker + and - goes to your single speaker (Jamma is mono sound)
- Jamma standard has 2 coin connections for two coin chutes
- button 4 "pin c" would primarily be used for Neo Geo. Capcom used a separate Kick (or auxiliary) harness.

- There should be multiple GND's.. a couple for the P1 and P2 controls.  Some for board power, video ground, etc...

If they're wired to the same pin, perhaps the previous owner wanted either chutes wired to a credit up.

Take a look at Bob Robert's Jamma hook-up page. Has a lot of information on Jamma and how to cleanly hook 'em up.

Thanks opt2not, I have a JAMMA pinout, that is how I know what each of these wires are.

Maybe I should rephrase the question:

I have these wires.  These SPECIFIC wires.
They seem to be clustered together for a reason!

What is the reason?  Where do they go?
Your diagram actually has less information that what I started with.

You'll notice I did not ask what to do with the GND for the player controls.
I didn't ask what to do with the power wires.
That is because I connected them already.
I've connected the video RED GREEN BLUE SYNC and GND.

To put this in your perspective:
According to your diagram, there are two wires running out of Player 2 Neo Geo D.
Why do you suppose that is?

Incidentally, this Neo-Geo diagram also doesn't have TILT, SERVICE, or RESET/TEST, which are part of the JAMMA standard and are on my loom.

Thanks in advance!
BobA:
Your first bundle looks like service and test but the second bundle looks like whatever was left.

I love how new members come to the forum asking for help with unclear questions, then when that help is given they become snarky at the answers.
Oh well.
Good luck to you.
