You aren't kidding. The folks who get the insane deals are the ones who put in the 6 hrs, sometimes time in the coldest, nastiest weather imaginable (at least where I live), If the savings on a cheap quality TV is "make or break" for you, then be there as soon as they start queuing people up. Otherwise, you won't get one.
But in all honesty, there's a reason why those TV's are being sold for the prices they are. If you track the life and/or operating issues of some of these special models on a site like avsforum.com, you will usually find that you get little more than you are actually paying for. I know this from a experience a few years back. This applies mostly to the "too good to be true" deals, but if one can get a decent deal on a normal, higher end model, it's a safer bet. Those deals are usually available without camping out as well.

LC60LE6300 is the model I'm looking at. Can't find anything on longevity nor any reviews. I'd be looking at a $400 savings. I'm not willing to camp out for it, but I would punch my mother in law in the face if that helps.

I'm spooked by the fact that it doesn't exist in the public discourse. The model number generates a ton of hits, but not a single comment out there from anyone who owns one. The Aquos brand is well known, and it's unlikely that it will be in the same league as the $200 "Emerson", or any of the other old names slapped onto the generic Chinese imports you will never find repair parts for. It's probably a safer bet, and I doubt you will need to camp out to get one, as the $1000 TV's don't go as fast as the cheap ones. Some of the similar deals on more expensive TV's at Wal-Mart, usually linger on through the weekend (and beyond) and it will probably be the same this year, given the poor economy.
I'd also be wary about buying a $1000 TV "sight unseen". It's a pretty sizable investment, so see if you can find a display model (at Sears?) prior to making a decision. If you like it, get there early!

Yeah, I'll check it out this weekend. I'll see about the return policy too.

I was all set to buy a Black Friday TV this year until I stumbled on a open box sony bravia 40" from sears for $299. I have the exact same TV in a 32 inch flavor and love it. Now I have a nice TV(two really), and get to sleep in on Black friday.
