Black Friday: 60" TV?
fallacy:
You guys should keep in mind that plasama tv’s don’t last very long.
Example I bout one of the first HD DLP tv’s 60’ Sony Grand WEGA back in 2003. I still have this TV in 2011 and never had a problem with it.
People that I know who own Plasama TV’s have always told me it brook after the first two years of ownership. A Plasama 60’ TV that coast a $1000, lets just say don’t hold your breath.
SNAAKE:
I had my 42" panasonic plasma for over 3 years. still works like new. most plasma tvs have like 10 years before the brightness dims or whatever. by then Id get a new TV anyway.
whammoed:
We've had our 42" Samsung Plasma in the basement for over 5 years now, granted it doesn't see a lot of use. Heavy beast it is. I see now they are about the same weight as a traditional LCD TV. The LCDs appeal a bit more to me for our living room since it tends to be quite bright in there at times and there is less glare from the LCDs. The glare on our tube TV has been a constant annoyance.
ChadTower:
Actually, there is a lot of data out there on Plasmas dying early. It's not the plasma tech, though, it's poor manufacturing. Power supplies, encoders, etc. Sony especially but others do it too. Maybe the real story here is to avoid Sony altogether. They had major issues in their HD RPTVs, then again in their LCDs, and also in their plasmas.
whammoed:
Coworkers newer LCD died recently. Wasn't a Sony. Mainboard problem. It's not just the plasmas or Sony's with poor electronics issues.
