I'm in that boat, too... not that I never get launch games (Portal 2 made me break my rules), but delayed gratification tends to get me a 60-80% discount on every game I buy.

Yeah I don't get people who "stand in line" for videogames. It's not like the cartridge days where they was a limit in availability due to the chips involved. As of now, I see MW3 available for purchase on Amazon and that broke all kinds of sale records.
You can usually get your game with minimal effort. The only reason I see for pre-ordering is for something worthwhile as a bonus (like that OOT Master Quest for pre-ordering Wind Waker).
As for Gamestop, I go there sparingly - and then only for used last-generation games (e.g. PS2) since it's often Buy 2 Get 1. And I usually don't even get into any chitchat with the employees. They're just salesmen being forced to move product and will say anything to keep their jobs...

More of the same, except not as fun because it's stale and you've already figured out how to solve all the puzzles!
Turned that one off after half an hour, never to be played again.

You understand that knowing we have different taste in games only makes me happier, right? ;D
