Pwend a GameStop ---meecrob--- today.
rlemmon:
So I went into GameStop today to pick up my preordered copy of super Mario land 3d. It was pretty busy with allot of customers. So I wait my turn and I asked the guy at the counter if they had sonic classic collection for the ds. He takes a minute to look then says ya it's $19.99 I said ok I’ll take it then he tells me it's pre-owned. I told him never mind and he says alright and proceeds to ring up my Mario game.
While he's doing that this fat squinty eyed ---meecrob--- who's working behind the other side of the counter says why you don’t want a pre-owned one in a really snotty tone of voice. I said to him well for one thing they have it new for the same price at Wal-Mart (which is in eye shot) and I'm not paying full price for used and anyone knows that a hell of allot of ds games are bootlegs.
Then I say plus Nintendo bricks your 3ds if you try to play pirated games. He just stood there for about three seconds looking like he just saw a three headed bigfoot. Then with his squinty, beady little eyes he hurried up to spot another customer and stammers out how can I help you. Seriously what a ---meecrob---. It wasn't even his sale and it’s none of his damn business if I buy new or used.

One of the best gaming choices I've made was to stop going to gamestop, about a year and a half ago. If I can't sell opened games as "new" neither should they.

Yup, I stopped giving GameStop my money several years ago. I love how their "new" copies of games often have the manual looking like trash and the discs all scuffed up. It's idiotic how they allow the gamestop employees to open up games, play them, then sell them as new.

I haven't been in Gamestop since I got screwed and the place burned to the ground so... about a year? If I recall correctly that's actually their store policy. They take all of their games out of the case and store them behind the counter to "avoid" theft. Since the discs don't appear to be ear marked for the appropriate box there's nothing stopping a GS employee from yanking a used game, "checking the disc in the proprietary disc checker than scans the disc for errors in about the same amount of time one would verbally state this quoted part of the sentence," and selling it as new.
And I kid you not about this proprietary disc checker. It's the same ---That which is odiferous and causeth plants to grow--- in about half a dozen stores I visited but when I ask to see it, nope, not allowed. Against store policy. :laugh2:

Well my problem with them is pure economics. Back in the day it was difficult to buy games from anywhere except toy stores and gamestop because other stores simply didn't sell them. Because of that we seemed to pay more for them (never any special deals, always full price regardless of the game's age ect..).
Now days we can buy games from virtually anywhere and although it's usually just a couple of bucks, gamestop is usually the MOST EXPENSIVE store to buy games from. Forget about used games for a minute... why would I even step foot in their store when I can get the same game at walmart or kmart cheaper? Not only that but for some time now whenever you buy a AAA game at either of those stores you get a gift card or something to go with it. You guys keep your "Gamestop exclusive Horse Armor DLC" I'll just get the game 5 bucks cheaper thanks. ;)
And just on the whole thing about used games, I NEVER buy used games. Why? Well unless it's a brand new title I can usually get the game on sale online for the same price at worst or MUCH CHEAPER at best. I have the thing delivered as well so my fat lazy butt doesn't even have to leave the house!
