Hi adrotaz08,
I have no experience with Catalyst 11, however the key question here is if modern versions of the driver support the same old method for defining custom video modes that we use with the old Catalyst 9 (same registry keys and format).
Basically, if Soft-15khz works with those drivers then it's likely that VMMaker will work too, as VMMaker actually uses the same registry methods documented by SailorSat.
Have a look at this thread:
http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=114551.0You might help us by testing VMMaker with Catalyst 11. In order to do that edit VMMaker.ini and enable the "AnyCatalyst" option and set "TotalModes = 60".
Even if it works, you'll be limited to 60 video modes. And I can't say if the dynamic modeline support (the key feature which GroovyMAME exploits) will even work. Finally, the "magic modeline" feature, which definitely is a damned hack, may easily blue-screen your system with those untested drivers.
If all that worked, then there could be a good reason at some point to try and patch a newer version of Catalyst, which is a horribly tedious and uncertain task, just to remove the 60 modelines limit, however I don't know if I'd be able to gather the energies to go through the process again, specially considering the amount of work that GroovyMAME still needs before things finally work as they should.
