Shadow Dancer (World)

----------------------------------------------------

ROMSet: shdancer.zip

----------------------------------------------------

Default Settings:
Lives: 3
Difficulty: Normal
Time Adjust: 3

----------------------------------------------------

- One credit only!

- No continues or adding credits!

- No MAME cheats!

- Last day is Wednesday November 9 (11:59:59pm Pacific Daylight Time), 2011.

- High score wins.

- No savestates, savestate practices, etc. during the round.

- MAME INP recordings are encouraged but optional.

- A screenshot is required to enter a score (press F12 to save screenshot showing your final score) or take a photo of the game screen.

- If you're a MARP competitor on this title, keep in mind this is just a friendly competition among forum members, so maybe you shouldn't enter. However, if you're a forum member and this is a game you're good at and nobody knows about it, this is your time to shine!

- Even if you don't have a competitive score or if you don't *think* that you have a competitive score, please post it anyway to keep the thread fun & to give everybody a good sense of score ranges.

- Please make sure your scores are from games that take place during the competition period (no posting your best score from last year, etc.).

- Use of autofire or other non-standard hacks within MAME or your PC's OS are not allowed.  No program or other person or entity of any sort may manipulate your controls during your game.  Coaching & back-seat driving is fine as long as the party doesn't directly influence the game or controls.

- If you can beat any of the high scores from the previous competitions, you can submit your score to the BYOAC High Game Scoreboard.

Best of luck!

Ok, played several games of this yesterday.  The dog has officially pissed me off.     I tend to duck and shoot alot (habit from Shinobi) and I end up sending the dog in to get spanked......then when I need him he's in puppy mode and can't do crap.   :P

Dude, I was so pissed when the Genesis game had completely different levels than the arcade game.  (Genesis version is better, though....)

Then I was pissed a few years later when SEGA released yet another "Shinobi 3".  WTF?  I had had Shinobi 3 for years!!

 :lol

I preferred the Megadrive version, but I'm warming to this one

Shinobi is harder than this game. I've never gotten bonus stage on that. Although, knowing Shinobi some probably accounted for me doing a bit better in my second (ever) try of this game. I got to the bonus stage, and got perfect. I got to 2-1, in fact.

I don't really care for the dog, but I can see some advantage.

They are quite a few setups where you have to use the dog to proceed, but the ninja's are always wacking the dog which leaves you in the ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- sometimes.

I got them all in my 111,750 game. I will say this- I die cheaply as well, mainly due to trying to rush through things and getting hit by a slow-moving bullet.

I think I about broke my control panel playing this this weekend......or my hand.   :badmood:

Credit fed a bit...man, this game is cheap in some parts.  2nd boss is easy to put down if you go right after him and do alot of dps quickly.  Otherwise, lots of bullets to dodge.

So what are the rules for which game can be picked next? Anything that is still open in the BYOAC High Game Scoreboard thread?

Just pick any game you like as long as it will run on an average Mame computer and has a sensible scoring element. E.g. don't pick Boot Hill

How about Omega Race (Set 1) from 1981? I love the old-school simple games. Sorry for the delay in picking, guys!
If that game is fine with everyone, how do you make a new thread containing all those links to the previous games/competitions?

I would appreciate it if someone could make the thread. I don't know how you copy over all the links (I don't use forums very often  ???)... I would greatly appreciate any help :)
No time like the present to learn.

- Hit the quote button on the first post in this thread
- Copy the contents of that quote and paste them into a newly created thread. don't forget to title that thread.
- Delete the quote flags at the beginning and the end of the text you pasted
- Add the url link to this thread under the url links of the old competition threads (follow the format). Don't forget to append the winner and second place names after the link
- replace the title of the game (it's the one with the / b bolded flag)
- replace the image link (you can find the image off maws, or just google it)
- Replace the details of the game: romset, settings etc...
- Add any addition information you want to add can be put in there as well, like tips or game history

...and that's it.  Easy-peasy.
