| My monitor is ticking, video inside |

I turned on my video games for the weekend and my 25" monitor inside my Mortal Kombat II machine is ticking. This is a MAME machine, but I don't think the video card has anything to do with it. It ticks when it's powered on regardless of whether it's plugged into the computer or not. The tick sounds like a short thats arcing. The video on the screen shows a little artifacting, but it's very playable. If I didn't hear it, I may not have noticed. I took this video from my phone of where the sound seems to be coming from. Ignore all the high pitched sounds, I didn't hear those sounds when I took the video. I am a monitor n00b, so if you want me to do anything please give instructions in great detail. |

Sounds like arcing to me. Turn off all the lighting in the room to track down where the arc is coming from. |

Right on. Followed your suggestion and found it. In the attached pic, thats where I found the arc. The blue line is where the arc was and how big it was. I turned off the game, moved some wires around and it's still making the arc. What should I do now? |

You need to replace the flyback. There's no "fixing" that....its cracked and arcing thru the casing. Its gotta go. Not a good idea to run it that way.... |
