From reading the thread it appears my best bet would be to clone the original hard drive and make all changes in XP vs. Windows 7 (since I have 64 bit)  It appears a new MB could possibly work.  If I get you the video card info, that may also work. I have all of the disks and the new and old  dongles.

pga/challange/team challange are DEADACATED machine's
ie u can not window's xx or any other s/w
u MUST use the s/w that come's with the game
as it take's over your putter...it is that simple
if u want to run mame style so be it,but i will not write the rom code for it

Well put ed. Thanks for your efforts to that end.  I have 4 computers and 3 cabinets I'm trying to revive.  Got the "challenge" done. 

Are the "TEAM Challenge" cd's available from global or from you? I still cannot find mine.  I have the original (dead) computer, dongle and drive but no cd's.  I saw someone selling drives on ebay so I wonder if I can just move my hard drive into another computer and have it work w/o all the windows complaining of all the different hardware. I'd like to hope so but I don't think so.

But with "challenge" (I dont have TEAM challenge yet) I don't seem to find the files you are referring to.  there are very few .cfg, .bat, .dat, .ini .cmd files to edit or at least that look meaningful at the moment.

I'll look into getting the cd's from global.  I think I may be able to borrow at least the RECOVERY cd from an operator but not sure he has the rest of the 3 other game cds.

So I've been playing with stuff in hercules.  GVRDongleMonitor.exe does not matter if it is run or not.  Game won't run w/o dongle.  I went so far as to hex edit that file, edit the registry, delete the file, edit herculesui.exe, and some other ideas but no luck.  Still have to have the dongle to run.  There are ways to defeat hasp but not worth the effort at the moment since I have dongles for my computers.  It's fun to look at this stuff though.

Yes I noticed hercules is used throughout.  many dlls point to each other, some in .net some not. Interesting construction.

I do have a cabinet with the overhead LED marquee display. It would be nice to code into that, yes.  I think I saw some files that had to do with it.  I also found the files for bad word filtering.  Kind of funny :-)

Have you tried to slipstream and modify the xpe build at all?  The xpe version requires a ps2 keyboard port. It won't recognize an usb keyboard if you have to use one. Not a problem with the original motherboard but if you want to play with others it must be ps2 for now.

Can't wait for tiger woods, but then we'll have to figure out how to transfer the files.  I can setup a dropbox account if you want.

Well I'm back at it for a bit and got a PGA Tour TEAM Challenge computer up and running again. 

Ed, have you successfully been able to eliminate the "Card Reader Not PResent" message that requires pressing a button to skip past?  Not a big deal just a minor annoyance.

I'm assuming TEAM Challenge is the one you have done most of your research on, like adding activating the other courses, etc.  I hope to learn more on this in the coming weeks...

Alright ed ...I used to play PGA online ....is there ANY way we can basically hijack the system... create our own server to do tourneys ... i know they came from global but ...any chance , think it would be pretty cool.

what is known is its-gaming with there new golden tee live
hook's wire-less through roger's to the its gamming server's in bean town
so that must mean olg is backing off the rule's some what
with that said we would not need to hijack anything
all u will do is add the t10 mac/dns/id to the window's proggie so it will turn on the t10,then find some 1 whom want's to house the system server
from there with a player's card the sky is the limt,or if we use higher cap harddrive's then each unit can be a node server.

hey ed12, what do you think about stripping the game out of the windows embedded? That way i think we might be able to install the game on a modern boardset with a standard XP installation.

there would still be some crunching involved but I think it might make for a stable install.

yes it can be plugged into a it's-gamming board :rom-coded:
and yes it can be moved to pure-xp no longer enbedded
the olny reason they did it that way,was so the game would olny fire up
into it's self,as i have explained and will try again u can turn window's on fully,and the game become's a call ..ie start/all-program's/golf
or it can revert back to normal window's..mind u, u will want to up the hard-drive size as window's will want to fully up-date,not sure about hercule's
as it is basicly a fat 32 proggie :dos: under window's control .dat/.ini call
i can explore it futher if the interest is there

also side note here the t10 can be fullt turned on by simpley adding the nessary driver's to the gobal-vr .dat/.ini

the olny problem i have found so far is some security problem's
ie viruis scanner's go nuttie with hercules
u :allow: it,i have done it manual and auto/manual is best
also please note it is a :shadow: program...the moment >hercules< load's up..i will try to tweak it's .exe/.bat/.dat..as it is a .dat
i am sure a few hard coder's can follow the lead there..
ppl need to be clear as to how they want it to run to me
ie if u want :call: control or not,and this is very important,do not lose sight of that point..as it goes to :hosting: yes we asign a set/set of ppl that are allowed,ie 10-20-30/player's card is nessary here >very important point<
as we look for it,over head if we share it will stay under 80gig

when we get to new course's and skin's on the fly is where the fun begin's.
so in short we all need these :primer's:,to decide if u want to do this or not,as i am doing it
and using the input here to explore futher into pga-golf i have come to respect the coding team involded in the oringal work..that aside yes u can run it in sp3 and in shadow mode in window's xp,will also work under linuix .

i just read this whole thread. i am very interested in being able to upgrade my machine to open up all the courses and players. i would also be super exited to be able to play tournys with other players. that being said i have no experience with programing or changing windows or anything. is there anybody that could walk me thru it in VERY simple terms as i did not understand half of what was in this thread. i want to learn but i have no computer background, im one of those dumb constrution guys. haha

also, my machine has a very dark picture but only when you are hitting the ball. ie when the picture shows the course. when the game is on any other screen it looks just fine. is this something wrong with the video card or hard drive or something else. i have tried to adjust the monitor to find a happy medium but its still not right.

any help would be very much appreciated.

Ed i have read this thread and i am in need of some help.   i have a pga golf cabinet and a DF1 computer with the championship III software.   i am having some issues with the game itself.   i have loaded all the software per the instructions and it boots to the game just fine.   the problem is when i go to try and play an actual course.  its like it loops after entering the credits and selecting the golfer and the specific course the screen goes black for a second and then back to the global VR screen like it first starts up.   any help would be greatly appreciated.   either getting the newer courses or whatever.   it sitting there is killing me.   i have scoured the internet and i am over on klov but there isn't any info there for the pga.  plenty of info for golden tee which is pretty useless for me.
