thk-u saint

now here it is
anyone with a pga golf by gobal vr know's this problem full and well
what has gone on is that the eng team has been dis-banded
so no support toward's the video and i/o problem's
within the scope of what i am doing is,i will be up-loading a series of
batch file's u will add to your system rescue disk
if u do not have 1 let me know your build and i will up-load 1,what this will
do is rewrite the main cfg,add support for other video card's >driver's< and
a few other thing's..

example>
FileFind: Pop directory \NVIDIA\WinXP-2K\44.03
FileFind: Getting Files from \NVIDIA\WinXP-2K\44.03
FileFind: Pop directory \IMMERS~1
FileFind: Getting Files from \IMMERS~1 <
where we want to add pop directory \adi\winxp-2k\xx where xx is driver rev
now this is olny a few line's of code we add to the pgacfg file
which has a header of
PowerQuest PartitionInfo -- DOS engine edition.
Date Generated: 06/23/2003 14:17:27
of course we will save as the same with the new line's added
reason for this is,once we add these line's winxpe will look for other video card driver's and find them once we point to them
more to follow

small up-date
i will be adding voodo 3000/4000 support and a link to a site for the driver's u can d/l into your new pga, also we will be taking the harddrive's out of cable sellect so we can edit the window's xpe/win2k folder.
also i will suggest if u have not already done so
clone your harddrive
it is easy to do and if u need the s/w i will point u to where to get it,and how to do a good colne..
and thk-u boba
i hope they join in ?
as i fiquire it may take me a week to do this
but i have ceritan type's of video card's on hand and if someone want's to use another,i would need it's make model so i can get the win2k h-key values

ok
another small update here
the test bed i am running has on-board video

so we will not be removing our video-driver's
u know .dll's/,oxc's but we will be adding in the .dir pointer's
and also the fact we can control the load up of pga
this is really neat to do
1-x down
1-x on the way
bear with me

cool cool.  :applaud:

some of that hardware they used is absolutely ridiculous. grossly under-powered, terribly unreliable.

I have 2 PGA computers that are boned and continually need to be reloaded all the time. they gather dust in the shop.  it would be nice to just build a whole new computer and be done with the antique junk supplied by Global.

the system i have available this second is what is called the "DFI landmark series" the only identifying mark indicating the motherboard is "NB32-SL REV B" it does not appear to have a sticker or silk screen anywhere showing the manufacturer. videocard is AGP  geforce 4 Ti4200

the system recovery disk is "PGA Tour Golf Team Challange" for computer DFI Motherboards PS35-BL and NB32-SL it's version is 4.0.0

the donggle is olny used at the end of the game load
ie the unit if recovered will boot to window's screen, before main game load.
if it get's that far ? treat it as normal window's
ie mouse/key-board control
gain control and go to the .cfg file for the game
and edit the call for the dongle..to reflect true=false/ save-as-.cfg
it should by-pass the dongle call, and the game upon reboot should not bark out for it,it will not play however mind u,but it's a fast test for the game, same can be said for the player card, now rem  something very important here
u are editing the main .cfg
so take the orignal and rename as .cfg1,then edit that .cfg and save as .cfg
this way u will alway's have the master .cfg

is there anyway to edit so when I swipe my player card it assumes I have all the possible upgrades (i.e. shoes, balls, glasses, ect)?  I purchased my PGA Golf after the internet portion was shut down.  Will check next time I  am in garage about booting computer to see how far it gets.

gobal vr has the operater's card,if they will not sell u 1 have a spare
let me c if i can copy it,it is olny iso after all..
fire the game up without the donggle

it should load all pre stage's,then call for the donggle, also
the usbi/o board if not pluged in will cause that error,on that board should be a usb cable.that goe's from the usbi/o board to a usb port on the mobo..
if it is not pluged in and or the usbi/o board is not hooked to +5 +12
u will get the donggle error also..the olny problem i have seen with the donggle is wrong game type donggle..inside the donggle is a atmel flat pack chip, which i am sure gobalvr will release the software to me.atfer all it is legacey, and as i pointed out the eng team for these machine's are long gone, and u olny get very little tech support,i did make a statment that i will do a cfg walk aroud for this problem, let me test it over the next few day's

Was told that team challenge tournaments were no longer available online as this was how you won in game items (game face).  Was hoping that this was stored on the HD and could be unlocked somehow.

the best way i have found to date to do this work
is to copy the complete hd of the oringal,
i do it by using a removeable set of hard-drive-bay's
and a proggie called easeus parition recovery 5.0.1,
with that in hand,i can make a clone of the orignal..
now with that said u can also slave it,and copy it to dvd
u may not get the full MBR,but u will get enough for what we are doing,
at which point if u are happey with it and want to test it
u can lay a winxpe MBR in to the cd backup
when u are ready ring me up

Ed,

Can you explain in depth how to unlock all the goodies.  I just recently acquired an a game with the all access pass and would love to unlock more golfers, etc.

Also, are the dongles able to be copied, etc.  I would hate for a dongle to fry or go bad an not be able to replace it.

Thanks,

Keith

hi
the donggle is a atmel chip
so yes with the proper s/w and setup u can copy it
i need to do a few so i will post what u need
if u are canadian bound then u are in luck as i am and the game's by law must differ

the extra player's are added to the master .cfg file
then linked to the pic file,u can even put your self in there
u will of course need the player's card.

i will dig out the file's u will need to edit and add to
it's a long list, and some are in a different format so u will need
to d/l that software to veiw/edit them
aslo i am running this in xp and not 7 as i find 7 dose not allow the flex i need, also please understand that these file's are running in winxpe

hi
i just looked it up
player's are here
C:\teen\pga_tour_golf_2006\Players
this is where u will add the .plr file
like so
adam scott.pl player file
u will need a windows proggie to expose the file to u
as normal windows will not understand it,also u will need to make the .plr file
courses are here
C:\teen\pga_tour_golf_2006\Courses
same thing apply's
olny this time it is a .pos file
so u will need to edit it
as it is a .dat style file >command-line< this time
but u will get the basic idea as to what is involved in the edit
now in my example u can see where i placed >teen-challange<
it is best if u do the same
and the easy way is to copy your pga hard-drive,in what ever format u like
ie 1-1/iso/etc

make a .dir on your coumpter and place it in there
this way u can edit and test without mucking up your game hard-drive

more to follow

hi i just did this for u ppl to look at
when u want to get to edit mode
this will help u alot

files in hercules and the ussage
the !file! is listed by this the edit come's after it

1-!coin drop! this is normal it is to hear the coin drop

2-!gvrcachewarmer! this set's the system cache leave it alone

3-!gvrcoin sound! this generate's the coin drop sound

4-!gvrdongle monitor! this is the file that chk's for a dongle
it is a .bat file eidit it if u care to break it down, and or delete it
thus it will not look for the dongle

5-!gvrpga-perload! this preload's the game values,u have seen this file in action when u first turn a pga on and it run's once then goe's blank and then the game load's completley it is >.exe<

6-!hercules test! this file load's before any other file and is used to test the intergity of the hard drive it is >.exe<

7-!kill-app's! is used by hercules to kill app's it is >.exe<

8-!pga-preload.dat! this is a dat file used by a batch file later on in
this list

9-!stopall! this is a msdos batch file used to kill all process's
it is a self >.exe<

10-!gvrboot! this is a .exe shell used to boot all of the listed :gvr-style-file's: and is nessary it is >.exe< to remove the dongle u wii have to decompile this file and rem out the dongle call, thus it will shut down a call to the dongle

11-!gvr-coin-monitor! used with #3 to tell it a coin is inserted
olny needed in none free mode it is a >.exe<

12-!gvr-crash-monitor!this is used to make sure the game load's up
it is nessary and is a >.exe<

13-!gvr-stall-monitor! this is used with #12 to make sure the game loaded and to make sure that hercules has stopped and is used also with
#16 in game mode it is a >.exe<

14-!herculesui! i have no idea of it's use as of yet

15-!patch-agent! this is used to load :patch's: u plce in the !hercules.dir! ie the main .dir it is a >.exe< leave it alone

16-!pga-pre-load! perty self explantory used with #13

there is also 2 other file's in the hercule's .dir that
i have no idea as of yet for the extison's

1 is vssver.scc i am thinking it is part of the verison call tied to the dongle call

2 is us2dismiss.wks i have again no idea of it extison

u will also want to add serval .dll's to the .dir if u want to run the hercules ,dir out side of the windows >game<

hi
this is edit of the dongle call

wtsapi32.dll wfapi.dll utildll.dll             WTSQuerySessionInformationA WFQuerySessionInformationA WTSFreeMemory WFFreeMemory                 System\CurrentControlSet\Control\ProductOptions                 ProductSuite Terminal Server          ALADDIN         GetModuleHandleA     LoadLibraryA

from my post

4-!gvrdongle monitor! this is the file that chk's for a dongle
it is a .bat file eidit it if u care to break it down, and or delete it
thus it will not look for the dongle

as u can see it clearly call's in a window's.dll
so u must go and kill that .dll

ie remove it from window's/system/system32
from there u will beable to kill dongelcall

So does that mean that no dongle would be required?

So I could technically install the all access pass on any tournament edition?

hi
the part i posted deal's olny with the dongle
the pass call is another horse all toghter
it is not in the hercules file
it is in the main window's.dir
and a link to the pga file
i will need to dig in futher to do the change's,i never thought of killing it
but rather chaning it up as pre requested a few post's back, but i have as of yet to look for it,and alter it..my main foucs was to rewrite the video card control's so we can use more then 1 type, and what is needed, with that in hand and now knowing how to kill the dongle, would u define your request a tad futher.? ie player card yes or no? tourney card yes or no ?
as they are tied into the modem >tourney< and my game's are canadian
and that call would have been removed by gobalvr and i do not have the file,if u do please list them and i will dig the rest out of winxpe
thk's in advance

hi
i went looking for it
it is here >teen\pga_tour_golf_2006\Shell<
now i will need to find it's dll and linker
i do believe in 1 of my earlier post's the complete.cfg was posted

>gobal vr has the operater's card,if they will not sell u 1 have a spare
let me c if i can copy it,it is olny iso after all..
fire the game up without the donggle

it should load all pre stage's,then call for the donggle, also
the usbi/o board if not pluged in will cause that error,on that board should be a usb cable.that goe's from the usbi/o board to a usb port on the mobo..
if it is not pluged in and or the usbi/o board is not hooked to +5 +12
u will get the donggle error also..the olny problem i have seen with the donggle is wrong game type donggle..inside the donggle is a atmel flat pack chip, which i am sure gobalvr will release the software to me.atfer all it is legacey, and as i pointed out the eng team for these machine's are long gone, and u olny get very little tech support,i did make a statment that i will do a cfg walk aroud for this problem, let me test it over the next few day's<

now with that said
i will need to look into the window's call
just let me know which 1 u want or both?

so i doubled chked my list and i did mis it
sorry bought that
u can edit this file but first let me find it's linker into windows

ed12 - what is the latest on this project?   I just discovered this thread and your exceptional work.  Thank you for doing this.

Like many I have  collected 4 PGA computers in various states of disrepair. Afther finding this thread I will dig in again.

One thing I discovered months ago is I could get the game software to install on several different computers (a Dell for one) and have it run fine, except for no sound.  I wonder if there is a way to edit the config files to work with the sound chips on other motherboards instead of being limited to the two DFI mobo flavors.  Your work to allow other video cards is inspiring.

Do you have a website with a repository of your work?   or an FAQ of what cards you can now use, what edits are required, builds, step-by-step notes or tutorials?  etc?

Thanks again for this.

One edit while I think of it: you said you had yet to see a mobo that was totally fubar.  I have one where the AGP slot is flakey.  If I install the game using the oboard video, it loads up a bit before complaining about drivers, but it runs - I get video.  If I use the AGP slot and a known good video card, I get nothing.  so it looks like I may have a fubar mobo fwiw.  I need to check for a replacement someday.  IIRC it is PS35-BL.

Thanks again for the thread here. It has my mind spinning on this again :applaud:
