hi
u say it loads the course
then  :loop's-back-to gobal-vr-logo: ?
if so
a=it passed the key problem
b=it passed the dongle
u have a corrput cmd.dat
it is in the hercules module
let me dig it up
give me a byte here
the looping is putting it back to the start
the game dose not rest it's self dose it ?
if so we need to reload a few moudle
i will need to .zip them and upload
u will need to know how to mount them
if not i can try to walk u through it
it will not be on any disk but your resuse disk
if u have that ?
do not mount it,just say u do or do not

ed

yes it goes back to the global vr logo after selecting lets says tpc sawgrass...  the computer doesn't shut off it just restarts the software back at the logo screen like an initial start up.  black screen for a second, where it would normally go to the actual course introduction and what not, and then right back to the "start up" logo.  i have four disks   the express install disk the two software disks and the emergency recovery disk.  not sure how to mount them

ed you can email me at "aol.com" with my screen name here if it is easier.   i really appreciate it!!!   Jeremy

hi
its ok this is easy the mbr on the harddrive is done
this is why it cycles
hercules is missing the final .dat part
if u read the thread i have permission from gobal vr to fix the code
and post it
so u ppl can get going again
they have read the code set
we do not have to be private about this
do me a fav
get a new hd about 20gig or so nothing big
we can mount which means load the game onto it
u use the resucue disk :it will format for u:
then demand u load in the rest...
from there u can see where i did the bulk of the edit work
by reading the thread
do not use your old hd,as it has a bad mbr..and u will again chase your tail
so we start fresh
plug in a cd rom-reader to the gobal-vr,it look's for it first,it is echoed
so u cannot c the start up stuff :bios:,but with the cd in,it will detect it
u start there and load up

ok ed.

i put in a new 40g HD and it is still doing the same thing.  i was told the memory could be biting it but i doubt that since all the videos plays all the selections through operators menu and so forth.

hi
yes the mem on them thing's can cause that
also so can the video card..
which card are u using ?
and how is the fan>most important q< ?
also i have found that the powersupply get's flackie
with the new hd in place we have removed it from the list of q's
do u have a spare putter laying around ?
if so stick the new/old hd in it,along with the donggle and interface card
and see what happen's, as this will narrow the range down for us
the ausiu board dose have a life span
but thk god we can run the game on dif putter's real easy

hi
CVN53
np on the double
here is what u do
open the game using the on board video drive if u have 1 ?
if not use any pci video card that will allow u to c the start up screen >windows-logo<,>click start >mouse is used here<,go to winexplorer
send it to the desktop :short-cut:,from there go to window's program file's
from there load in the driver's for the new card, from there go to hercules
and repoint the program to search for the new driver's of the new video  card,it should then just load up as normal,if not read my first few post's
i explained how to do it in more detail
but rember u want window's to know the card is there
and then with the repoint in hercules u should be good to go
if u have problem's i will gladly add the driver's for u and post

Thanks for quick reply I have loaded the drivers and windows sees the video card in device manager and no errors on boot.I will go to hercules and point it to the new video card.I will try that this week.
I don't have the computer took it back not realizing video card is proprietary, everything loaded but after courses finished loading it went black but when I hit start button the picture was there for about 2 seconds then black again. Then I found this thread so thx again.
Thanks Ed

I have a rejuvenator so I am going to try that first. That doesn't cost me anything.

also this might be a dumb question but can i turn on the world tour part of the game or does that work only with being hooked up online like the tournaments was?

Hi Ed

Is there a way to be sure globalvr is seeing new video card without installing back in game case? do i need to edit any file settings? I don't see the cfg file you talk about, where are these files that you are editing located?

Thx

hi
and if your in canada it is stand alone
i asked u to open the windows up for now so u can reach explorer and do the edit's nessary
once they are done u can then recolse it,to allow the game to load normal
ie: with just the windows logo.then it goe's to gobal vr screen
antoher hint here,if u are like me and hate waiting for it,put in another stick of ram..
here is where u will be doing some of the edit's
i will do a .txt to explain how to do it
also this is just a small ammount..bear with me

hi
before tonight is out i will up-load the nessary editor
i have a few other's to add it will be edit these 2 .zip
this just take awhile
best bet here is to open a .dir in your own machine first
and then load all the file's in i up-load
then u can edit and test on your machine first
to this do not run it like a gobal vr but rather to test once u recompile,
as u are un-compling .exe/.bat/.dat

Hi Ed, I have read ur thread with much interest as I have just purchased my own team challenge machine n would love to be able to upgrade my of with a better graphics card. I would also really love to unlock all the players and courses and all the game face stuff aswell and would be really interested to play this online as it was done in the past or even direct link to anothe PGA golf machine if possible. However most of what u have written is a bit complex for me and if u could just explain how any of this can be done I would really appreciate ur guidance. I am in Australia and have an access all areas machine and a operators plus card. I do not however have any recovery disks?
Hope to hear from u soon. Thx Joe

I know nothing of linux other than it runs way better than windows.

Never had an issue with megatouches or big buck pro (both run linux) but have had nothing but issues with PGA golf and pokertec (both run windows)

it almost makes me angry they chose windows over linux.

hi  lilshawn
yes it run's 100% faster and fault's out less then windows
now we can do this thing 2 way's
please pay attenion

a=run it inside of the window's xp:e:
b=stand alone
my personal is stand alone
the reason linux run's faster is it uses less cpu overhead
plus it is not a ram hound

now with that said
we can run it inside window's
just need to make the pointer point to linux
how stable it would be i do not know
will test it
