Me like shiny things!
As long as they don't say "Apple" on them.
Grasshopper:
Damn. I was completely unmoved by Steve Jobs death but this has hit me quite hard.
Dennis Ritchie is one of my heroes. I love C. Sure it's got a few quirks and it's showing its age in certain areas, but it's still my favourite programming language. And "The C Programming Language" is still the yardstick by which books on computer programming are judged. No other computing book I've read matches it for conciseness and clarity.
I also agree with the previous comments. Dennis Ritchie's death has been largely unreported here in the UK yet we've had wall to wall coverage about Steve Jobs. It's deeply depressing that a guy who was basically a salesman, who copied other people's ideas, and who treated his customers with contempt, gets showered with plaudits. Yet a modest unassuming guy who truly revolutionised computer science is largely ignored.

I know, its sad isnt it? :-[
