Currently after 170 votes, the PS2 is slightly ahead of the NES, then the SNES, PSX and Wii. I'm a little surprised that the PS2 has had more owners than SNES or even the Atari VCS/2600. Also surprised that 75% of us have owned a Wii. 12 lucky bastard have owned a Neo-Geo, nice! http://mamezach.blogspot.com/ |

--- Quote --- Looks like I had an Atari 800 or 600 or 1200... I would think that the numbers would be successive and the numbers would go up with each new release... Guess I learn something new today! :P --- End quote --- I forget the actual names of the divisions within Atari, but they had a division that developed the home computers (like the 800) and an entirely separate division that did the consoles (2600, 5200, 7800). As a result, the "numbers" attached to the product names only have significance within the respective product lines. In other words, "5200" denotes an upgrade from "2600" but has no significance when compared to "800" (which, incidentally, had a very similar architecture to the 5200, but that's beside the point). |

After 1200XL they went to the XE Series, which started with the 65XE. I went from an 800XL to 130XE, pretty much the same computer with a new case and more RAM. |

Great idea! But the Playstation percentages just depress me. Sony's the worst thing that ever happened to video gaming. Their constant attempts to replace PC Gaming, barring games from being ported, their attempts to force exclusivity through obtuse hardware design (Which the PS3 is hands down the posterboy for that behavior). Alot of the current state of gaming is because of Sony's agenda, diversity started it's death spiral when the Playstation era began. Now today we can have any game we want, so long as the only game we want is a Shooter, and we'll get a grand total of about 8 hours of gametime out of it if we're really lucky. |
