| Typical Screen Distance |
| (1/1) |
| StriderDSO:
Hey, so I think I've settled on getting a 32" LCD TV for a screen, which is equivalent to a 26" 4:3. So I'm just wondering if anyone with a 25-27" 4:3 screen in their cab can offer me some insight as to the usual distance between the monitor and the player? I want to keep it as tight as possible to save on space, but I don't want to either 1) blind myself, or 2) be unable to catch everything occurring onscreen. I'm not having much luck searching and finding these specific dimensions on the net. Thanks! |

I've got a 29" CRT that your face ends up around around 18-20" away from. It's ever so slightly too close for me. |

It usually works out to be within a few inches of the diagonal size of the monitor. i.e. I have a 36" CRT TV and I'm about 36" away from it. You might get away with being a little closer to an LCD. |

I go by THX (George Lucas) standards... It should be 1.5x the size of the screen... So if you have a 50'' TV... you should be 75'' away from it.. All purely preference though. 26'' 4:3 would be.. roughly 39'' away from it which is about 3'ft. |

Thanks for the info, guys. I've read on some TV sites that they recommend 1.5x the view size as a minimum, and others that say 1.0x. It just seems though that most arcades are 1.0 or less. I think I'm going to make my cab a bit fatter than it needs to be (I have space to fill anyways...) and give myself at least 28" of view distance. |
