Drnick:
Well I finally got round to reading this book. It was fairly well written but I didn't really feel anything for the characters.  I think it could have done with being quite a bit longer, maybe more gates would have been a good Idea.  I really enjoyed a lot of the references made throughout the book. Hopefully the film can find a good way of recreating stuff like the interactive movie scenes.

Yeah, I had fun reading it,  but it's not a great book. It has a lot of fun references that people enjoy reading about, but ultimately it's a lot of flash with no real substance.
Slippyblade:
It was a pulp novel.  Enjoyable read, but definitely not something that will be written about 30 years from now.  If you were alive in the 80's, read it.  Otherwise, probably not.

Agreed. I've read it twice, I'd probably reread it again, but it's not the life-changing piece of literature some make it out to be.

In true 80s fashion, the author turned out to be a one hit wonder.
