Any good suppliers for tinted plexiglass?
Vulgar Soul:
I feel almost embarrassed to ask but I have to start thinkin about this cus I'm almost done with my first cab. What's the difference between tinted/smoked and regular plexiglass. What does either one offer over the other and what's the advantage or disadvantage of either?
mgb:
I think its just kind of a preference thing. I like the look of the smoked as opposed to clear. I think the picture also looks great through a light tint and the tint will also conceal some screen burn to a point.
jekbrown:
can the tinted stuff be edge-lit?
Knave Jack:
It can, but you need a polished edge to get better light dispersion. The clear and colored (translucent) stuff will all edge light. If the edges (3 of them any way)are going to be visible, there is a very cool looking series of acrylic called blue glass and green glass. The edge has the look of glass instead of being clear on the edge like regular acrylic.
It turns out I only have one shade of Polycarbonate laying around. I will keep searching cause I would swear I had 2. Anyway here are a couple of pics of what we have. If this shade works for you, we have lots of pieces 48" x apx 24" taking up space. The customer who buys them has no use for the rems, and at some point we will have to either recycle them or just throw them away.

That might work, any chance the other shade you might have is darker?
