I think I have it in for jasonbar. This is also a new personal best.

Satan's Hollow (MAME 144u5) 232,290 .  This was the second of two incidental games. In the first one, I tried 'early crossings' to build up my firepower, but that didn't work. The second time, I used my old method of getting through fifteen boards before crossing. I then impressed myself with a lot of very clever shooting, maneuvering, and shield use (in the process learning there is actually some strategy to the game as it goes on). At the end, I actually blew it on a simple 4x4 bird board, because I was trying to make blocks for the bridge, and wasted my shield crossing underneath the down-coming flock. Oh, also, I think it cheated me once; note second snap.

I'm waiting for someone to come along and destroy my 1943 score....but in the mean time, while getting to about the same place, I bested my last by about a hundred thousand.

949,390  MAME 144u5  (The bullets didn't seem as fast this time, though some of the fusilades of them seemed different.)

Even though I went into the boss stage (7) with full energy and lots of weapon time, AND some totally stupefying flying, I still didn't make it. (That's only a medium cruiser. The destroyer is after that!) It's a hard one.

Track & Field, standard settings - 376670

Made it to round 6 I think...

The hammer and high jump are the hard ones for me.

They used to be for me as well (took me forever to even figure out how to do the high jump).  Tip for the hammer: watch the yellow bar along the bottom of the screen--time the throw when it is at the halfway point of the far right blue block.  Of course, keep the jump/throw button held for a second or so to get as close to a 45° angle as possible).  The high jump is more of a "feel" thing for me.  I time the jump as close as possible to the bar (without knocking the bar off on the way up, of course).  As soon as I hit jump/throw I'm immediately doing a "drumroll" on the L&R run buttons; then when the dude has just about topped out, I keep the drumroll going but add in the jump/throw button with only my right hand (simultaneously hitting jump/throw and the right run button) until he's cleared the bar.  So basically (really, really fast): Jump / L / R / L / R / L / R / L / R / (then without breaking rhythm, when he reaches just about max height): L / R+J / L / R+J / L / R+J, etc.  Hope that makes sense.

Oddly, in the later rounds when the qualify distance is 90m, the javelin throw gets me more than the hammer and high jump ever did.

Here's my latest game from the other night: 452300

I thought I would submit my Juno First score on standard settings in MAME, 2,090,040, I clocked it twice, bit hard to prove other than you can see I made it to wave 80.

After a certain point the game gets really hard, really fast.  I spent/wasted quite a bit of time on this game during high school.  Here is my first submission (mame 143, normal settings)

Nice.

Time Pilot standard settings 249,200.

Not a terribly hard game, but I can't imagine it on Difficulty 8!

A long time coming, but finally!

Time Pilot 84 - 237,600

It's really not personal. Jasonbar just happens to have scored high on games I like, and like to score high on also.

I've gotten 45k on this in much earlier MAME. If it's not accurate in current MAME, it's at least a lot harder, hence the [measly] 12110.

Gyruss - 475,400  today on my vert cab, an impromptu game.

I had 469k - which I thought I radically beat.... - but that was two and half years ago.  I may've done better, but the stick I was using I was a little unfamiliar with (a Sanwa), and once I just slacked and didn't move out of the way of a lone bullet....

Good christ. I knew this would happen. A gay fumbling move cheats me out of passing the board, and a good lead. But I, finally, on newer MAME, beat the posted record. Not that I was trying. I just wanted to play a game or few (I reset a couple times), and my last one was great.

Oh...wait...I thought the score was 169k. But it was only 162. Okay, not so bad, then. Still a gay death.

Fired up 1943 again, and ran up a great score.

Thought I was going to break 2 million (2 guns away) but a plane came out of nowhere and took me out.

I see Galaxian doesn't have a submission. It's one of my favourites. Therefore I hereby submit my score of 24770 so that I can be top dog for once, even if just for a day  ;D

Please, no one beat it until I have a screen caption of the list with my name in it :duckhunt

Here's *my* Spy Hunter high score. As you can see, it's far beyond what I've gotten before. Finally made it into the boat house, too! Kind of anti-climactic, though, as it's kind of slow, and not much happens.

After all these years how come no one has ever written some software to parse the binary MAME high score files, upload them to common database?

Hiscore hasn't been supported in MAME for an age, anyways. Not that the topic belongs in this thread, mind.

Surprised no one has posted a top score for Space Invaders yet (or else just hasn't made a link).  Well, I'll bite and post my not so high score and get 15 minutes of fame until it's knocked off.

3200 (just a little short of my best at 3570).

Anyone else play Exidy Crash (crash.zip)?  Not on the list at all, but I discovered it because I played its clone, "Car Wars" on the TI-99/4A all the time when I was a kid.  Got to the second screen, almost got past.  6650.

I just now beat my previous Black Widow score. This was on .148 . Easier, I think because there appear to be hardware slow-downs and such.
