IPAC2 Problem

Hoopz:

I assume then that you only have the PS/2 cable?  The easiest solution is get the USB cable.  You can order it from Divemaster127.  He carries the Ultimarc line of products in the U.S.

MonMotha:

I'd wager that the PS/2 ports on this PCI card are actually just a crappy PS/2 to USB converter dropped on the board and hooked to what would otherwise be another USB port given that it has USB already, and putting "real" PS/2 ports that don't require extra drivers on PCI is essentially impossible.  Most of these can't handle more than 6 button presses, and some handle even fewer.  I know Ultimarc specifically recommends against the use of such converters, especially since the IPAC can be a native USB device.

I just finished my scratch build this weekend and I'm currently in the process of working all the bugs out on the software side. For a keycoder I'm using the Ipac2 and running a PS2 cable into a PCI card that has both USB & PS2 ports. Now I have it all setup and everything works great BUT when I go to do a move that requires pressing 3 buttons simultaneously (ie -  Zangief's spinning lariat) it only registers maybe 10% of the time. Anyone run into this problem?

YES! I just dealt with this on the MKII machine I'm building. In my case, the key presses registered, but would only stay pressed for 1 second. So, doing a charge (holding a button down) wouldn't work.

Hoopz is exactly right. It had been a while since I bought a machine and I thought the ipac used for USB was a different style ipac so I ordered an entire ipac thinking there were USB ipacs and PS2 ipacs. When it showed up and I realized it used a PS2 to USB cable. lol. So, I have an extra ipac.
