Is the guy you are doing this for after an authentic look i.e the original artwork style but just with a 60 stuck in. Or can I, you know, 'enhance' things a little. Edit....... or if you are happy with jibmums ver. which looks just like what your after, ignore my offer. Edit of an Edit :D hey look I went and did my version of it anyway - available as a hi-res image if you want i.e. 9812x2084 pixels (Ondtendo can be changed to whatever you want other than Nintendo). I found a hi-res copy of original artwork and vector traced that and then did some other stuff. I note the original artwork does not have bright white lettering but shades of grey so I duplicated that look. It's pretty durn close. here's the original for comparison |

OMG!!!! Ond contributed to my thread!?!? Now my cab is holy. All must bow. All Hail Ontendo 60 in 1! ;D Seriously, though. That is AMAZING. Thanks so much, Ond. I'll get this over to Rich @ TOG right away. |

On a related note, I've been playing with the .ai file for the VS CPO available on vectorlib.fr With a bit more tweaking, here's what I've come with so far. Tell me what you guys think. |

hey smalltownguy, if you have vector files of the marquee, I'd suggest using Illustrator to make your "60", even if the font had been outlined. You could take a part(s) of the existing outlined letters to make the "6" by manipulating the path(s). Furthermore, you could cut/paste portions of a path. I could give it a try for you if you'd like. |

Small update on this project - I decided to forgo trying to 'reuse' the metal panel, and fabricate one myself out of wood. I'm getting close now. Cutting the button holes: Dry fitting the control panel: And, the panel overlay put down. Yes, I know it's just the tiniest bit crooked. I had to compensate for the fact that the button holes I drilled were just a smidge out of square. The holes are aligned to the grid. Because the cabinet is black and the edge of my CPO is black, you shouldn't noticed once installed. Left to do: * Cut and install start button * trim edges off CPO * crimp terminals on my wiring * hook everything up, and TEST TEST TEST * insert joystick shaft |
