Plexi Thickness For Control Panel

Grimoz:

Ok, so im getting near the end of my project build and i just wanted to know what you guys thought was the best thickness plexi to cover my control panel with. My control panel is made from 5/8 mdf and it has a glossy checkerplate vinyl overlay, all i need to do is cover it with the plexi and im leaning towards 1/8" (3mm) would you guys agree with that or would 2mm be ok. Its not a huge panel 680mm wide x 272mm high.

DaOld Man:

If you use 1/8" with the 5/8" mdf, you can use 3/4" wide t-molding and get a very fine look.
The t-molding will cover the edge of the plexi and be flush with the top of it.
Several people on here have done this with excellent results.
I havent because I cannot find 5/8" mdf within a hundred miles.

We always used 1/8" when doing conversions. Always used that on my own games. Seems to be the de facto standard. I've seen some done with 1/4" lexan and I thought those looked like ass.....

Yeah i think 1/8" is the way too go, cant imagine any thicker than that looking good.
