Yeah, I don't think he's going to have as outstanding transition as Will Smith, but still worth looking out for I think

Well let's not compare Apples and Rotten Oranges here.  Will Smith was on a hit sitcom for years before he ever got his first film role.  His rap career was actually going on at the same time as the sitcom, so he wasn't a artist (ugh I hate using that term in regards to a "back street kid on the block nsync") who transitioned to film, he was a popular actor who was also a popular artist.  And yes I know that JT still does music, but my point is he has more musical experince than acting.

Also Smith has range, Timberlake doesn't.  Until he does something like Ali, The Pursuit of Happiness or I am Legend I don't think we can say he's a good actor.  Being a straight man in a string of poorly written comedies isn't terribly hard.

I think it's less about him being a good actor and more about him being the only competant actor in a film full of hacks.

So to summarise, you don't think he's going to have as outstanding transition as Will Smith...

Will Smith put himself on Hollywood's map with Six Degrees of Separation.  That gay con man role was so alien to any prior public perception of him that it was either going to make or destroy his movie career.  He was excellent and jumped straight from there to leading man status.  Note that was barely halfway through his sitcom run.

Thats funny, I have never even seen that movie. I like Will Smith and all, but I dont think he has that much range. He plays the same dude in every movie. Bad Boys, I, Robot, I am Legend, Hancock... The list goes on. I hate when he does that stupid sad, lip quivery look too, like when he is trying to be all hard, especially in the scene where he kills the dog in I am Legend. I dunno, just kind of got old for me. I dont even know what to think about Men In Black 3... Heard the production has had a lot of speed bumps...  :-\

ChadTower:
You might want to see Six Degrees of Separation as well as Ali, Six Pounds (crappy movie but not his fault), The Pursuit of Happyness, or The Legend of Bagger Vance.

Sounds like he plays the same dude in every movie you've seen because you've only seen the same type of movie.   ;D

I think his best performance by far was The Pursuit of Happyness.  He was really good in Ali too but it just wasn't a very good movie.

Ok you got me. Youre probably right.  :lol I havent seen any of the movies you mentioned, tried watching Ali but I fell asleep. Ill have to get The Pursuit of Happyness, Im sure my GF would want to watch that one, its kinda chick flicky right?

I also think Jaden Smith is a little punk. Saw him on some interviews after the KK remake, and man, he is a smug little ---steaming pile of meadow muffin---.
