Good point.

From what I've seen of Franco in interviews, he seems pretty put together, but, you're absolutely right about Yale (or just about any $$$ uni).

You know he's actually a PHD candidate at Yale?

Now, whether he plays smart in a movie is, granted, a whole other discussion  :)

I'll remind you that George W. Bush gradguated from Yale as well.  All an ivy league degree means in this day and age is that your family has money.  You can be dumb as a rock and still get one.

That will only hold if Franco is monied. Is he?

Hows that nonsense? Such as? I just dont think that he acted that well. Put any actor in the situation he was in (cutting his arm off) and youll think that he "acted well". I just wasnt impressed. I mean I enjoyed it, I just dont think he deserved all the praise he got for that role.

A #1, Franco didn't actually cut his arm off for that scene.  That was special effects.  I don't think hollywood puts any actors in situations like that.  That's why they call it acting.   ;D

B #2, cutting off his arm was like five minutes of a feature length film.  Did you watch the whole thing?  He was the film.  There was nothing to sell it to you but him.  He was stuck in one spot, with no other characters or settings (aside from a few trips into his brain) for a feature length film.  And it was really good.  Not many actors could have been convincing, and entertaining enough to carry the entire weight of a film in circumstances like that.

I get that you weren't impressed, and everyone is entitled to his opinion.  But your opinion is wrong.

Har Har Shmokes.  I also love how you put A, then a number.

Everyone knew the premise of the movie going into it, so you already feel for the real guy regardless of who plays him. Yes, I watched the whole thing. Part of me thought "wow what a dumbass to go out into the sticks, alone, without a phone, and not tell anyone". I just feel, given the nature of the situation(being stuck alone, pinned under a rock in the desert) any actor could have done the same thing, if not better. I think there are a number of actors that could have pulled that off. They could have got some no name dude to do it.  :dunno

Thats an insanely naive statement.  George W. Bush is not stupid.  He may not be that great of a public speaker and made some bad choices but that doesnt mean he doesnt have a strong intellect.  The ability to speak well publicly is a not a prerequisite for having a strong intellect nor is the ability to make good decisions.  I would bet dollars to donuts if you ever had the chance to sit down with him privately and have a conversation with him he would probably impress you beyond belief.

Finally....I guarantee you Yale is not selling degrees.....no matter who the family is.  It might help you get in...maybe...but you still have to graduate based on your own merits.

On topic, I loved the original Planet of the Apes movie.  But considering the era in which the movie came out I always thought for sure humans destroyed themselves through a 3rd world war through the use of nuclear weapons (a plot that is in my mind confirmed based on the storyline of the second movie in which the underground surviving humans worship a nuclear missle)....afterwards, apes evolved and took our place as the dominant species.  This new movie seems to infer that apes were helped along by man in their genetic evolution and then turned on man thus beginning their role as the dominant species.....lame....

Oh lord.   :dizzy:

Before this gets moved into PnR somehow...

George W. Bush, is BEYOND stupid. Thats an insult to stupid people everywhere. They might not get it, but hey, its insulting nontheless.

Yeah. It would impress me how he has lived so long considering how stupid he is.  ::)
