Hi Martijn,

You have laminated both sides of the side panels, I wanted to do this as well with 0,9 mm HPL you used but the 19mm T-molding doesn't flush entirely ( 18mm MDF + 2 x 0,9 mm = 19,8 mm ) , so 0,4 mm sticks out on both sides. How does this look on your Cab ?

And where did you get the perforated plate for the backside panel ?

I'm making a combination of your curved Streetfighter cab and the slim Marvel vs Capcom, work is still in progress I'll make a new Project Anouncement soon with photo's.

Hello Martijn!

Just found this forum a few day ago and decided to make me a cabinet. I really like everything you did on this project :notworthy:
Woud it be possible to get some measurments of your side panels? I want that shape of it!

Got 2 sheets of mdf today

Greetings from norway.

Just wanted to say thanks for this build thread, it's responsible for all of my inspiration to build my Revolution cab and also for the credit card bill that build generated.  :lol

Hi Martijn

I know it's been a while since you build this thing, but I was hoping you'd still be able to answer a few questions about the 3-way position switch on the MadCatz PCB:

Looking at the fitted switch on the PCB it has 6 solder points, yet you only seem to have soldered 4 wires on to yours.

Do you remember:
- if you removed the small pre-fitted switch?
- what solder points you used? (top row, bottom row...?)
- and where you got the replacement switch? (I know it's a long shot ???)

You can just read out with a multimeter. center is neutral(ground?), one set of pins is not used. and I think connecting left with center or right with center gives away the other 2 modes..

Thank you for your reply Martijn.
I measured the pins as you suggested, and this is the diagram in case any one else is interested.
A 3-position 2P3T ON/ON/ON slide switch is what's needed.

Hey mate, love this build!
looks way better quality than what I end up building, but anyway I'm wondering about using a 32" tv in my build but wondering how you feel this works with the position you end up standing - i'm worried it may be too big a screen too close? What do you feel?

Thanks

Martijn - do you still have the file that is your control panel layout?  I am starting a cab that will be very similar in size and layout, and I love your control panel layout.

Patent has worn out :)

Sketchup model, well sort of. I used sketchup more to design the sides. The inside panels could have wrong measurements!

(...)Mounted the JLF plates(...)

I was wondering about this way of mounting the brackets.
Does it not create a gap that is only covered by the cp overlay, that someone could poke a finger through by accident?

Use plexiglass over the top of the control panel.

Hi Martijn,

fantastic build, your posts have helped me alot when building my own cabs. Wondering on this slim one, how do you get to the insides, it doesn't look like any of your panels have a hinge/lock do you have to undo some screws to get in?

Thanks

Hello Martijn!

You did a great job with this cabinet, I love it!
I would love to make one for myself, could you share me the plans or the .psd file containing the theme?
This would give me a good base to start ... You may have already shared them because I saw someone selling a second hand in Belgium but if so, I found nothing ...

Regards

Why?

Why did i sell my old cab?

I miss throwing coins in her , that sound is priceless.  But she had flaws, i didn't like the u360 and her size was just to big.
It needs to be living room proof! And i miss HD gfx games and remakes of old games. the TV didn't cut it.
Replacing it with a LCD would kill her. So she is happy at a new owner now.

After almost 3 years i decided i want a new one. Slim sized, Arcade feel, LCD screen.

LCD with the scan line modes in Mame + tinted plexi and a few beers would fool me anyway  ;)

My holiday is coming and i have some time to spend on it.

I got some sketches on paper, already drew it out in sketch-up and got most of the artwork ideas and design going.

My new one will be similar to my old one, just half its dept. This time no Street Fighter Arcade theme.

But going for the Marvel vs Capcom theme. Based on the latest version 3 characters

Some basic info
Screen : LG 32" 32LD320
Sound : 5.1 Cambridge DTT3500 Digital Black Logitech Z-2300
System : Playstation 3 Slim with large hdd Custom firmware 3.55 Jtagged Xbox 360
Storage : 2 TB Samsung hdd 5400 RPM SATA 32MB
Sticks : 2 x Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT

I have been buying parts and indexing my old parts, materials and tools.
Found a place where i could work , my balcony is a no go this time..

Just my heads up

Hi

You should consider using 16mm MDF instead and a 7mm laminate as well
11/16" T-Molding (17.46mm) will fit. You also need to take the artwork thickness into account when routering the the slot, as this will add the the over all thickness as well.
