Nice! Jtag's are the way to go.

You can install Final Burn and you probably won't need a PC for MAME. Unless you want some of the classics. I think Final Burn is more for NEO-GEO, CPS, modern shmups.

Hi and yes 360 jtag is all i need. the old mame360 has been redone i think since June this year

http://www.emucr.com/2011/06/mame-072-release-2-for-xbox-360.html

It runs all the classics now fine with all the mame options you want, even preview video

with nand-x and the official jtagtool and youtube it was very easy. jtagtool is a all in one package to get it running.

I still want to test some more because xenons can really get hot, i don't want it to rrod on me.

Hey I bought that whisper fan as well for my 360.  It was louder than the stock one for me so I threw it out and just used some proper stealth fans in its place that I modded to fit.  I love the vantec fans as they are actually quiet.

Finalised the woodworking for the most part.

Things left to do

- artwork
- wiring
- installing all components

and the whole control panel still left to do. But i decided on the design and now i can make artwork for it.

Installed 2 noctua fans for airflow

And brought the cabinet inside and cleaned it. Picture flood :applaud:

note : switch looks like its not straight, but it is  ;D

Next to wire it all up and finishing the artwork, then work on the cp

Thanks, i am still busy with the artwork, i need to have that done before i can proceed drilling holes for the cp.

I lack a lot of skill and ideas for designing and creating artwork, been using adobe photoshop a lot and learning it everytime i use it (thanks youtube).

Also with my last cab i send my drilling template local and the artwork to scott, but after drilling there was a difference in the holes, some are a few mm off. I still wonder what went wrong (was it the artwork or the printer or the drilling) , now i am scared to do that again, and will just wait for the final print and drill from that.

And for hardware part i am still experimenting with the xbox 360 heat. Doing something very insane with the 360 at the moment :P

Just to show i am not all talk

Xenon xbox 360 heat problem solved  :applaud:

Bought 2 x Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus
I wont recommend this to anyone, the CPU coolers i bought didn't fit at all, the xclam system that came along with it was to big , had to cut all the legs by 1 cm
Then drill new holes in the clamps, also needed to remove more metal from the clamps so it would fit at many places.
Then extended some Capacitors that were in the way of the heatpipes of the coolblock

Added arctic silver as CPU/gpu past instead of the what came with the CPU cooler.

With my old cooling setup i was getting 65-75 degrees in the cab

First i tried 12 volt, that was really cool, CPU and gpu didn't get above 35 degrees loaded
but the sound was terrible lol, like a vacuum cleaner

Then tried 5 volt, that was giving me CPU at 55 degrees and gpu at 42 degrees

Finally settled with 8 volt, giving CPU 48 and gpu at 35 degrees

Well i am happy with the result.

After reading on the internet that there is a new hack to get homebrew and unsigned code to run on ANY xbox i felt kinda pissed  :laugh2:
I could just get a cheap 4GB slim , its cool and low power consuming and has hdmi  :banghead:

Ah well, nothing beats doing it yourself. And still that new hack could take up to a few minutes to boot (quote : "Even in the glitch we found is pretty reliable (25% success rate per try on average), it can take up to a few minutes to boot to unsigned code."), this one boots in 12 seconds

Well the reset glitch hack came out today, so I wouldn't beat yourself up about it. Plus you need a Xilink proto board and some other stuff, so that'd run you another $150 just to hack it.

Straight from Tesla's Lab

The silent HDD  :applaud:

The hdd resonated a lot being mounted directly on the mdf.

With these 4 rubber feet its all gone now, in a completely silent room i don't hear the hdd in the cab now , or even on this testing table.

Together with the silent cool 360 setup i am happy with the total silence cool thing i wanted.

I bought 2 zalman fan mates v2 as well, to get the max out of the fans without hearing them.

Will install those this weekend and finalize the hardware part.

AND I COMPLETED MY ARTWORK  :applaud:  :applaud:  :applaud:

Send the order today to gameongraphics   Cant wait  :P

I would install noctua fans on the CoolerMaster Hyper 212+ as well for full silent build.
Great choice of the noctua fans for the cabinet.
Also Scythe 120mm Gentle Typhoon 1850rpm Fans are awesome for cabinet fans aswell

Aqualyricist:  I got a computer power port from a dead lcd tv, worked great.  Can usually find a dead monitor, tv, or power supply to recycle one of those from.  Will not have the fusing or rocker switch that Martijn installed of course.

Straight from Gameongrafix!, After 22 days its here  :applaud:

Packed in a strong cardboard tube

After opening, its filled with bubbleplastic

The artwork is rolled in some white soft printing paper to protect it

It slided right out , very nice

I am very happy with the result of the marquee and control panel, i hoped for that the template for drilling was cut the same size as the cp artwork, i am have trouble figuring out how-to place the template for drilling on the mdf cp, and after drilling placing the art spot on. I first thought i would just place the cp art and cp drilling template top of that, then placing the mdf control panel on top of that, and just cut out the correct size in one perfect go. The cutting template seems larger then the artwork.

Ill leave that for now, here's some inside pics

Bottom side, with the subwoofer, coinbox, powersockets, and 12volt power adapter

I tie-wrapped a wire to the back bottom panel with, network, power and on off switch

Above that the panel with the Xbox 360 and its components, i think i moved the xbox and all of the component around more then 5 times to get it right with the huge cooler and large power socket and airflow etc.
I cut off 20% of the dept of the Xbox 360 panel, this was for more airflow and easy cable maintenance.

Other angle

On top i have the fanmate for the 2 cabinet fans to control and on off switches for all of the CCFL tubes

Now that i received my drilling template i can finally begin working on the Control Panel.
