I’d say the goal is to prevent other people from doing it the wrong way.

Yup exactly.
Clearly the OP isn’t going to change his mind, despite multiple experienced members telling him it’s wrong, AND even official original 4P cabinets mounted them straight.
But for any other members reading this, here’s a prime example of how a nicely build cabinet can be wasted on a bad playability.

Ps. It’s a good thing Konami didn’t base their designs on 10 year old kid’s opinions or we wouldn’t have one of the most successful quarter sucking games of all time...

...next to X-men:

Even the 6-player cab, with Dazzler and Cyclops’ positions at extreme angles to the monitor has them mounted straight.

But hey, what do we and official arcade manufactures know?

No, it ***was*** a standard BITD. You won’t find a single original 4 player cab with angled joysticks. That’s a BYOAC thing.

I mean, if it works for you and your kids, great- but it’s just good that you know in case the first time you have a party and your buddies comment that something doesn’t feel right. And to be fair, you’re right - at least you didn’t route the area out - you can adjust and remount fairly easily.

You won’t find a single original 4 player cab with angled joysticks.
Before making an absolute claim like that, you may want to look at the Captain America & the Avengers flyer here.  The bolts on P4's stick are clearly angled.

There was some disagreement on this list by DM, but you might be able to confirm/disprove using flyers because companies aren't likely to use crappy conversion cabs in an ad.

You can also add the much-maligned 2-player titles Virtua Fighter and Virtua Fighter 2 to DM's list. (image from VF2 manual)

Shponglefan understands this ongoing discussion.
Seriously, why do you guys care so much what people do with their own arcades in their own homes?

Bottom line: A few cabs came from the factory with angled sticks, but the vast majority, including the most popular and well-received titles, did not.

The buttons look great! Would you mind sharing a link to the buttons you used and which RGB LEDs to go with them. Pretty sure I want those exact buttons for my C.P.

The button are the iL PSL-L Translucent with Black Concave, and convex for the pinball buttons. (industrias lorenzo from arcade paradise)
The LEDs are my own creation, I did a hole on the button, and added a 5mm LED, but you can get the 12v ones that also fit perfectly.
The software is LEDSpicer, a program for linux, in development right now by me, but I will post more details when I get it into beta stage (very soon).

Ok, I found the buttons...

But if I want the same RGB LED effect without making my own, like you have done, do you think this is what I would need?

What platform you going to use on your machine?
I will finish the program soon and you will be able to use it, but only if you run on Linux.
Right now is working fine, but still on alpha stage (finishing stuff and fixing bugs).

I'll be using Windows 10 with either LaunchBox or HyperSpin. So I'll use LEDBlinky

Wow! Great job!! I'm new to the cabinet builds and really like this design. How does one go about getting the designs for something like this? Would like to build something like it if I can.

Good build..

Now, about the 4 player joystick angles, on the original cabs, (not this project), why are the buttons for players 3 and 4 angles different while the joysticks are not?

Because your hands change position when off to the sides so moving the buttons plays more comfortably -  but your mind still tells you that up is toward the screen even if you are standing sideways to it !
