Slim Cab with 4 CP - Top Heavy?
<< < (2/5) > >>
Corbo:
Could you put some brackets on and fix it to the wall if you're worried?
TopJimmyCooks:
Make it wide, obviously, for the monitor and to keep the cp in proportion.  Remember your cp may want to be pretty deep p3 and p4 can get a good viewing distance to the opposite end of the display.  Go for at least evo depth (woody plus 4-5" of depth)  Put the pc down in the bottom of the cab, and as much other weight low as possible.  Gently test with four players yanking all at the same time.  Use levelers or a fixed wood base rather than any castors.    If it's still tippy, make a tether to the top back of the cab attached to a stud with a lag screw or something as insurance.  the leash works better than a bracket because you can still move it around a bit and won't transfer vibrations to the house walls.

If your 3 buddies aren't total apes you should be ok.  If you're worried about it or relying on the tether it won't be fun to play.

TopJimmyCooks:
There is a good sketchup file of a woody that I used for a starting point.

Dimensionally this model is a woody but it has the evo detailing (arms under the keyboard instead of the angled/sloped front edges, some other minor changes)
This was done by EvilNuff on the forum.  Basically, if you select the whole back of the cab and pull it out 4" you have an Evo.

Let me know if you need a sketchup of it, deepened, widened etc.  I love sketchup.
Donkbaca:
My slim is 25 1/2 inches wide by 16 inches deep at the base.  I think a large 4p cp would just sort of ruin the look of it.  But sketch one up and check your dimensions.  My advice would be to make the marquee area larger, that way you have less top and bottom bezel
