Mag-Stik & Mag-Stik Plus Differences

Hello,

Am I wrong or right in assuming that if you were to remove the spring from the Mag-Stik and the magnet from the Mag-Stik Plus, these two sticks would now be identical in size, throw, softness, everything [but colour]? Do they both use the same type of microswitches?

I plan to remove the spring/magnet. So I'm thinking I might be wasting money on getting the Mag-Stik Plus, when I'm going to end up removing the magnet anyway.

I just want to be sure there is no difference in throw/travel distance between the two.
I've spent quite a few hours searching through this forum and Googling, and came to the conclusion that the Mag-Stik (Plus?) has the shortest throw of all sticks. (someone please correct me if I'm wrong on this)

Thank you.

wweumina:

No, they are different in the way they are put together to allow the switching from the top.

Many of the parts are different as evidenced by the fact you can only get a balltop for the Plus (different shaft). The Plus is a larger assembly overall.

wweumina:

Btw, throw and switches are the same AFAIK but there appearto have been small changes over time. My older Mag's (both plus and normal) feel a bit softer than my newer ones though that may just be wear.

captainobvious:

Alright, thanks.
I guess I'd better get the Plus, then.

AndyWarne:

The differences are at the lower end of the shaft, the "plus" has a U bracket and spring which does the 4-8 way switching.

But... if you were to remove the magnet, the stick would not center at all, not sure why you would want to do that.
